I do love this jacket but I think there might be some problems for folks who are not built like me. I'm a toady sort of thing, at 5'2" and 120 pounds with legs as long as my husbands. So that means I also have arms that hang almost to my knees. Which makes this coat perfect for toads like me. The sleeves are long enough, which is always a problem for me to find in any coat. Also, though, the wrist openings in this jacket are small, which suited me just fine (all toads have tiny wrists), but I think for anyone with a normal wrist they might find this annoying. My one and only complaint is that the hand pockets are positioned too high, but again, that's a toad thing. Just one last thing, I went against my better judgment and ordered the white instead of the black (you know the old wisdom that black is slimming), and couldn't be more pleased. No, the black isn't more slimming (my daughter has it in black), and the white is just a lovely shade of pearl, which gives this puffy coat more of an elegant look than it does in the black.

Transit down jacket rocks!-- We ended up buying 3

Rating:*****

I bought this jacket just before christmas for a trip to Iowa--I'm from Los Angeles so I was a little worried about the weather. We were there during the big storm that passed through and this coat is worth every cent! I was so warm, all I wore underneath it was a cuddle dud top and a t-shirt. YES it is that warm. Also it is supprisingly unbulky by down coat standards, I didn't look like I was wearing a sleeping bag. Now I'm in Michigan and again this coat is making my trip so much more enjoyable. I liked it so much my sister in North Carolina bought one from backcountry.com and my mom bought one in Boston.
THANK YOU!! Note, I am petite (5'1 and about 120 lbs) I needed an extra small, my mom is 5'2 and about 130 she got a small) If you have small shoulders go for the XS. The ink blue is a beautiful color too.

Love the look and feel!

I love my new Transit NF coat! The Phantom Red color is perfect and looks more like a burgundy color that is subtle. I am 5'9" and 128 lbs. and a small fit me (I have a small frame). The arms are long enough (although 1/2 an inch more would not hurt) but adequate. I have a long torso and the coat hits me mid-rear. Although there is plenty of down throughout the jacket, it feels very light on which is great. The only downsides about this jacket is that the Phantom Red color can discolor(if you use moisturizer or wear make-up) around the colar and wrists easily. Also, when it's windy, I felt some air through the sleeves. I would say temps that are 30 to high 50's are perfect for this jacket -- Anything below 30 degrees might require some layering underneath, but that's my preference.

The perfect winter coat. I've been looking forever to find a down coat/jacket that isn't too bulky or heavy, but still offers premium down warmth. TNF Transit is a winner. I'm 5'4" & 150 lbs, and the medium fits me perfectly with room for layers underneath. The length hits just above mid-thigh and, while it covers my behind, it is not too long and doesn't look or feel like a tent! The material is soft and lightweight, so it's easy to move around in, and easy to slide on and off. My favorite part is the two-way front zipper which allows adjustment when sitting and driving, or for actively running with the dog. The snap front storm flap also provides an extra barrier against the cold Wisconsin winter wind. The removable hood allows you to make it look a little dressier for work or just around town.

This coat will kepp you warm even in the freezing cold/snow thats taken over OH.

I just received this coat yesterday and I love it! I have multiple NF jackets(including the Denali) but none were keeping me warm enough in the freezing cold and snow that has taken over OH. This jacket is light weight but super warm and long enough that it covers my butt and Im 5'10. I ordered a large the same size as my other NF and there is plenty of room to wear a heavy sweater/sweatshirt under with room to move and without looking bulky. The sleeves are also long than most which is a plus since Im tall. If you are thinking about ordering this coat dont hesitate it will not disappoint you. Overall I would recommend this coat to anyone plus the shipping with Moosejaw is super fast!

This totally rocks.

I ordered this Northface jacket because I originally purchased the Destiny, which is the same thing, but a little shorter (normal jacket length). However, if you're going to be outside a lot (live in an urban area or on a college campus(!)) I would definitely suggest this. It comes to right below the butt, so it keeps your legs and butt warm, especially when you sit down. Hood is very warm too. It's not poofy - it's really form fitting and cute, even for someone that's not super skinny like myself. I definitely suggest this jacket for everyone, particularly if you're doing a lot of outside walking!! It's fantastic and I couldn't think of anything better for daily walking on campus.

Great fit, comfy and very warm!

This jacket is great for winter. I initially ordered the Gotham jacket but it was too short, too bulky and too small. I decided to go for a longer jacket and couldn't be happier. The fit is great (I had M in both jackets and this one fits true to size) it isn't too bulky and it is very warm. Plus, with a little extra length it covers my butt a little which is helpful if I have to sit down on a cold surface. If you wondering about size I'm about 5'8" and 135 lbs and I can still wear a hoodie underneath if I want and the sleeves have some extra length which I like.

Nice Jacket

Rating:*****

I bought this jacket for my 19 year old daughter to wear walking around the cold Michigan campus. She has tried it out for that and REALLY likes it. She's short, so it covers her to her thigh, without being too long. She's a size 6 generally and first ordered a medium, reading that they run small. I'm a 10-12 and it fit me, so I quickly ordered a small so she'd have the right size for Christmas. The small was perfect. I had asked advice from Backcountry on this and they didn't really have good advice on this. I'd just say this jacket runs true to size.

This jacket is awesome, totally worth the money that I spent on it.

This jacket is really cute. I am 5'3" and 95 pounds, and I got an XS, and it's not as form fitting as I thought it would be, which is nice because I can wear a sweatshirt underneath it. It also covers my butt when I stand. It will definitely keep you warm if you live in a college campus where there is a lot of walking and you'll also look good too. This jacket is a great investment. Also, might I mention that I also got a MoJo Cliff Bar with my order, how nice! I love ordering with Moosejaw & also getting tons of points!!!!

I ordered this jacket in both brown and grey and really had a hard time deciding! I went with the grey since the metallic sheen makes it seem a little bit dressier (and I haven't seen it in stores or on anyone, yet). It's the perfect length, right past the hips. The fit is roomy but sleek. I have a few North Face light jackets in mediums, but the X-small fit me perfectly (5'5, 115 lbs). The one thing to improve the jacket is possibly a faux fur lining to the hood to make the jacket a little less casual, but I still love it!

The coat doesn't appear to be made with high enough quality. My wife has only had the coat for a few weeks and the feathers are already coming out.

Runs Large

Love the color of this jacket, but it ran too large. I would say it fits more like a Medium. I love how the jacket isnt too puffy, but it was way too large.
