Great product....has been around

Rating:*****
I have used this product all day for twelve days sometimes in -10 degrees. It's cozy, keeps you warm, comes in 2 sizes, and still looks new after 3 machine washes. I have used it for hundreds of miles under a helmet while snowmobiling. Although it might be nicer if it was a bit thinner, I believe it's thickness has to do with the fact that it is made of polartec. And it's not super thick, I just have a huge head and am maxed out at 2x on my helmet. If your helmet has a bit of slack this would be a perfect fit. I would like to try the marmot but at that price and with North Face being as nice as it is, it's not worth the risk of getting it wrong. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Great Balaclava!

Rating:*****

I don't care how dumb my wife thinks it looks when I wear it around the house (it's just so soft), this thing performs really well. I wore this on summit day on Kilimanjaro (with a heavy fleece cap on top), and I was really happy with it. It also performed well on cold days going to work (no more frozen snot). The material is great and retains its elasticity when you pull it under your chin or around your neck to wear it like a neck gaiter.

Great for Snow Removal in Iowa Winter!

Rating:*****

I bought this balaclava just before Christmas this Winter and have been loving it. We've had a cold and snow-filled winter in Iowa and it's done a fantastic job keeping me warm and dry while blowing snow or just shoveling. The neck goes just far enough down into my coat to ensure my neck doesn't get cold at all. The face opening is just large enough to not impede vision while still keeping you warm. It also breathes really well!

Excelent Balaclava

Rating:*****

Just wore this for the first time last weekend in temps of upper 20's to lower 30's. Worked like a charm, no hat needed, ears toasty and no problem hearing. It's nice and soft and stretchy which made it easy to pull down below my chin too. I wear L for a helmet, when I wear a helmet and this fit snugly but not tight. Could do without that stupid logo blazing on the forehead but I'll cope..

love the product and the website!

This product gave me complete warmth and protection from the cold and snow. I had one last year and got stuck in a snow blizzaed while on a ski lift. Luckily I had my North Face Balaclava to keep my face from completely drying out and burning. Its great! I lost my first one, thus the reason for purchasing a new one. Thanks guys for the great site you've got going!

Soft and Warm

Rating:*****

This is one of the items that I always pack if the weather is on the cold side. This thing is warm and the material is super soft against your face. Has enough coverage for your neck also and some other brands I have tried are too short.

Unless you have a very small head I would order the large, they are a snug fit.

For halloween or severe weather sports...It's a must.

Rating:****
Let me start off by saying that this is a multi-faceted product. Not only is it great for biking in the severe cold, it also doubles quite nicely as a halloween disguise. It is great for frightening the timid and small children. I scared quite a few trick or treaters...Come to think of it, maybe it wasn't the balaclava. :-(

Good stuff

Rating:*****

I picked up my North Face balaclava during the season last year. Very comfortable. Keeps your mug warm on those nasty windy days and you can roll it up into a silly-looking beanie or poke your head through the facehole like a gaiter when it gets too warm. :)

Look like a bank robber while you're in complete warmth and softness!

The north face is my #1 choice for winter gear and this balaclava is no different. This bad boy is so soft and fits so perfect on this round thing that I call my head. ZERO complaints on this piece of cranial genius!

North Face Balaclava

Rating:*****

I just bought the North Face Balaclava intending to use it for cold weather motorcycling, and it works like a dream. It keeps my chin and throat warm and covers the back of my neck too. This is a great product!

Good but not great. Not for intense cold. Fit is small.

Rating:***
Good but not great fits this perfectly. Let me break it down for you to help with your decision. First the fit. I usually wear a M-L hat, so I ordered the Large in this. Good thing. The fit is tight. I would almost want to go a little larger. It is soft on the inside and stretchy all around. I live in the Canadian North Baffin Island so it gets quite cold up here. SO far it has handled -20 celcius ok. However you feel the wind cutting through. Don't buy this if you want to be wind-proof. This is more like an insulating layer, or to take the edge out of the wind. I fold it up and use it as my tuke when I don't have it down over my face. When it is over my face I no longer like i

Does what I expected

I bought this for my 10 year old son. It is now his favorite headwear because it keeps him warm. His only complaint is that it tickles his nose.
