Nice bag for the city or even the country.

This bag will get you through the daily grind of city life. Its waterproof (in my experience) , constructed of a seemingly bulletproof plastic material, and has a comfortable shoulder strap and additional chest one for added security. For the same reasons this is great to use on the trail ( I prefer backpacks however). The inside of the bag has a small organizer, it has too extra roomy main compartments and a couple others for smaller and more fragile stuff. It's a huge bag, and looks slick in the black color, so don't worry about this looking like a "man purse" (but it is great for the ladies too!)

The shear toughness of the bag, combined with the versatility and usefullness of this product all make this maybe the most important purchase ever made in the history of purchases being made online. I say online because these days you can buy anything online..except maybe a presidential election..but im sure someone is working to change that so for now The North Face Base Camp Messenger Bag is the greatest purchase a person will or can ever make.

This is the perfect messenger bag for practially everything, great for school!

This bag is the ideal bag for school. My notebooks and a few texts fit perfectly. I had trouble deciding whether or not to get the small because I was afraid it'd be too small, but it really worked out well. The only problem would be that it can be a little tricky to get to pencils and stuff if you close the clasps all the time. It not really a problem and at the end of the day it's pretty hard to go wrong with The North Face.

Ha! I beat Jon Stewart to his review! Disclaimer I'm a North Face fiend. Seriously. Love the gear. Anyway, this bag is great... it's lightweight, holds a lot, and is easy to clean. The only problem is and I guess this could be positive OR negative that it's pretty challenging to get into... like, when it's on. Of course, you don't have to do all the zippers and clips, so I guess if you don't, it's not too much of a challenge. Anyway, it is beautiful!

Without a doubt one of the toughest messenger bags on the market. If you work or play outdoors this is the bag for you. Zippered throughout to enclose at that you don't want to get wet.It is sectioned with a divider for thos items large and small. Very well made bag, I have several North Face Bags for I work outdoors in all the elements, the men that work with me I have purchased these bags too.

Carries everything!

I bought the large red model and damn if it's not the best bag there is. I am like a chick in that I collect bags. This thing holds everything in comfort, I have been in rain storms and carried drills and tools and it still looks new. I will not be replacing it anytime soon and bought the small black version for my wife!

The Yellow One is the Best!

I ordered this as a gift for my husband's birthday. His last one was stolen. I figured by ordering the yellow one, we would be able to identify the criminal carrying it should it be stolen again. Also, the yellow is bright enough for my husband to keep up with. In other words, this is a kicka** bag that is hopefully hard to lose!

Great BIG bag

Great bag, but too big for me. I was looking for an attache-sized messenger bag, and this was too roomy. BUT thanks to backcountry.com's outstanding service I had the Medium size (1098cu in) in just a few days and it's perfect. Waterproof, comfortable, enough organizer pockets without going overboard. Amazing deal for the price. If you need an attache size, get the M.

a must for NF fiends

i use it when i'm riding around the city on my bike hence the name 'messenger' and it's great. lately, i've been through some serious rain and it's done a great job keeping things almost completely dry. however, some moisture spray from the bike and passing cars does get through the bottom of the bag. overall, it rules - slim, durable, and stylish

Large and in charge

I needed a messenger bag with a waist strap for my husband. This bag doesn't have as sturdy of a waist strap as I would have wished but the ones with beefy waist straps are small bags. This is NOT a small bag. But it's waterproof and spiffy-looking and will obviously last for many many bike rides/board meetings to come.

I got this bag because I wanted a bag that I can fit my net book in and other items and not look like I'm going away for a week. The bag is water proof, but I didn't care for it, and returned it. Unless you are going to pack it to the brim, it doesn't look right. The flap on it has two points on it, and with the rubber material it is sort of stiff and doesn't look right when closed. The other problem I had was the strap. No matter how I put it, it never felt right on me. I'm a short woman, maybe that had something to do with it. Also how the bag sat while on my body wasn't very comfortable. Some bags seem to "mold" to your body and feel and look right; this one didn't. If you are going to pack it to the brim, then it might be the bag for you. I just wish it fit better and looked better, I liked how it was otherwise (I got the one with the lightning on it and purple inside).

Great but too big

I bought this bag to carry books around campus but it was way too big. I ended up returning it for a smaller size. This bag in a large would be great for traveling as a carry on or on any other trip but for school purposes go with a medium.

The bag is a great bag, but the information on sizes should be more accurate. They only display the dimensions for the small, i ordered a large and it ended up being way too big and I had to return it.
