Rock/Creek Outfitters

The Lumi Watch is one of the first Suunto outdoor sports watches made exclusively for women.  Constructed to be smaller and sleeker on the wrist, and although it's gorgeous and feminine it still  has tons and tons of awesome features. You'll have weather forecasting technology right on your wristop with the Lumi's barometric functions, Weather Trend Indicator, and Storm Alarm. You'll have accurate altimeter information as well, an invaluable tool for climbing, skiing, and wilderness travel. By utilizing these functions and the Lumi's accurate digital Compass, you'll be better prepared for any kind of exploration - in a dense and unfamiliar city or along a silent back-country trail.
Most importantly, you can eliminate guesswork in the field, making safer decisions with confidence – and style.
Here are just a few things the Lumi can do in detail. We are impressed - how about you?

Day Counter
: Suunto Lumi Day Counter keeps you abreast of an upcoming event.
Alarm Clock: Travel light with the Suunto Llumi alarm clock, with dual time and a five-minute snooze.
Altimeter: Accurate to 30,000 feet, displays current elevation, shows elevation gain/loss, and records your entire session for later analysis. Simplifying altimeter use, the Suunto Lumi includes a unique start-from-zero function that eliminates the need for entering a reference altitude. With the single push of a button, the altimeter will begin tracking your ascent and descent.
Barometer: Measures and records air pressure to help you predict changing conditions. Features automatic Alti/Baro mode that senses movement or lack thereof, switching between altimeter and barometer accordingly. Weather Trend Indicator shows 3-6 hour barometric history.
Storm Alarm: Activated by a rapid drop in air pressure over a three-hour period, the Storm Alarm sounds and flashes, letting you know that something unpleasant is fast approaching.
Compass: Digital compass keeps track of direction. Bearing lock with traditional rotating bezel or adjustable digital lock.
Sunrise / Sunset: Just set your continent, region and city, and you'll always know how much daylight remains for safe climbing, skiing and off-trail travel.

Nice Watch, Many Design Flaws

Rating:**
Well even though this watch looks very nice and has some very cool features, the band broke within a week. Sierra is always good on returns however and is sending me a new one (I am hoping mine was just a lemon but after reading other reviews I fear it was not). The band design is very poor for a watch that is designed for technical outdoor activities and the lack of inexpensive replacements is null (a replacement band will run you $30-50). The entire watch itself does not seem very practical for a rugged outdoors-person as its crystal face seems like it would scratch very easily--I unfortunatly did not have it long enough to test this out. I was however really satisfied with how easy it was to switch between modes and found the altimeter and barometer to be very accurate. The thermometer on the other hand is junk. It regulates with your body temp. and the watch itself urges you to remove from your body to get a truly accurate reading. Even if you do this the temp. drops literally a single degree every two mintues, even if you shove it in the snow, which I did. So chances are you would be waiting a good while to find out what the temp. actually is. Right before I sent the defective watch back I noticed the mode button (a crucial button for switching between time and altimeter) was sticky and hardly working--I had to push it nearly 10 times to finally get it to work. I would opt for one of Suunto's other ABC watches if they weren't so dang big, they seem more durable and practical for the activities I intend to use these features for. But I am going to give the Lumi another shot and hope it doesn't fall apart on me again. The watch does look very nice but as the manual seems to suggest it is really just an expensive tool designed for helping women find their way around a shopping mall and not a rocky mountain pass. Overall I am pretty disappointed
