rocks my world

Rating:*****
this skirt rocks. i bought it for a trip to the beach in florida and ended up wearing it a lot of the time i was there. day on the beach... night it is dressy enough for a nice restaurant. extremely versatile, you could wash it in the sink in a hotel room and hang it in the shower and it would be ready to wear again the next day. i will definitely take one of these in a few colors on my next backpacking trip overseas. i am only 5'2" but found the length to be very flattering. but you can also adjust the length by using the fold over waistband design. i wear mine folded over about 4 inches at the waist. i usually wear a medium and the medium fits great.

It's a wardrobe basic and looks way better in person

Rating:*****
This skirt is the basis of my wardrobe. It's super comfy and the fabric always looks neat and tidy, no matter how much time I spend in the company of cats. It falls to my upper calf and has lots more flare than the picture shows. I've worn it with thermal pants in the winter and it's long enough not to freeze me but short enough to not get covered in slush. I've worn it to funerals and looked totally appropriate and formal. I've pulled it out of the washer and put it on wet, and except for a cold belly for about half an hour it dries off in a jiffy. Seriously, this is the best money you can spend to get something that is so comfy and versatile.

I ordered the Patagonia Morning Glory skirt in size large. I also ordered the matching top both in black. I had an issue with which size to get, but with the fast fabulous service of Zappos, had one back in the mail and exchanged within a matter of a couple of days. This top and skirt in black make a great backdrop to put fun colorful cardigans and jackets as well as draping of color in scarves, and what could be easier to throw on some great jewelry and a jean jacket. Couldn't be easier, very versatile.

Great travel skirt

Rating:****
I bought this skirt for some upcoming traveling through Australia. I wanted something that could be dressed up or dressed down, that was comfortable enough to travel in, and that could be washed and dried over night in a hostel/hotel sink. This skirt fits the bill! It is somewhat of an awkward length - it hits at my mid-calf and I am 5'10" - but it can be worn low on the hips or up at the waist. All in all, this is a solid skirt and is worth the price.

Tech fabric in a skirt - I love this skirt. It's extremely comfortable; I can wear it to work and around the house. The only reason I don't give 5 out of 5 stars is that my husband (not a fashion editor) thinks tech fabric works better for shirts and my daughter (a fashionista) thinks it looks a little goofy. The fold over waistband, while extremely comfortable, does look better on days that my tummy is flatter than those days when it is not.

I like the way it fits in the waist, but the length is a bit awkward for my height (I'm 5'4"). It hits about 3 inches below the knee and isn't a particularly flattering length for me personally. The color is nice. The fabric is a bit thicker than I expected it to be, so it doesn't drape quite as flowingly as I thought it might. Overall quite comfortable, nicely made, but for me wasn't a total perfect fit.

I’m pretty particular about how my clothes fit, so I was pleasantly surprised. This skirt looks really nice. It’s stretchy but still fitting in the waist. It’s very comfortable and hangs/flows nicely. It may even be slimming. It’s a nice dark blue (i.e., it doesn’t look black). I was afraid it would be too casual, but it’s not—it will work just fine for work. I think I’m really gonna enjoy this skirt. I recommend giving it a try.

Fabulous even for the young at heart!

Rating:*****
I am a "very young" pushing 60 girl, 5'2", 150ish lbs. I bought the Northern Light in size M and couldn't be happier. I wore it on a bus daytrip and was not only very comfortable but pretty cute, too! I folded the waist over and had the added benefit of extra "hold"...it has a nice slimming effect. I love it! (Washes beautifully, as well.) I'm sure I will need a few more of these!

Great for any occasion!

Rating:****
I wore this skirt the instant I got it. I love it! The top of the waist is folded down so it has a very comfy fit. Great fabric..easy to move in. This is a great piece to throw in your pack and not worry about it wrinkling. The picture is a little deceiving though. The skirt has more of a flair to it than it does in the picture.

Awesome skirt, smallish?

Rating:*****

I love these skirts - I have two and counting. I usually wear a medium in Patagonia clothes, but the medium sits up pretty high on my waste in this design. With the foldover waste band, I expected it to be a low rise, but it definitely isnt. So if you want it to sit low on your hips (which I like the best) order a size up.

Negative Reviews:

Rating:**
This skirt didn't work for me-- I wanted a basic black travel skirt, and this one isn't quite right. The tech fabric is stretchy and a bit shiny (like yoga pants) and quite thick. The fold-over waist band would probably get quite hot in certain climates. Also, there is just a lot of fabric on this very full skirt. If you're looking for a skirt for travel that folds small, this isn't the right bet. But could work as a casual skirt, if you like the style.

A little long but still comfy

Rating:***
So I have this skirt in black. It is definitely longer than I had anticipated. I'm about 5'8" and this skirt makes me look pretty short. I don't think it's flattering for all. The material is pretty cool, but because the skirt is kinda heavy, it gets a little warm. Don't get me wrong, I own quite a few long dresses, but those are generally cotton or some other lightweight material. It boils down to personal preference.
Aimee at Moosejaw (Fall 2009) on 06/16/2009

flattering cut, fabric is... not what I expected.

Rating:***
When I received this item in the mail, I though I had gotten the wrong item because the material felt like a stiff swimsuit. I was expecting more of a cotton/modal. My mistake, I should have payed closer attention to the item description + fabric the skirt was made of. I will most likely return this and wait for the black Prana skirt to come in stock. But, I bought this with reward points so whatev.

big booty big booty!

made my butt look funny. patagonia seems to have issues with making clothes for girls with a little extra junk in their trunk. any-hoot, i returned it. and i agree with the other comment, order up in size 'cause they run small.

this is comfortable skirt, but i think the reason you pay the price is simply for the name. you can get a similar skirt for a lot cheaper if you don't care about it being patagonia.

Long-ish - I find the skirt to be longer than I had expected: I am 5'6" and ordered size Medium. Otherwise it fits well and is very comfortable.
