Get you some Baggies! Do it!.. You won't! -P

Rating:*****
I've learned several wonderful things about my Baggies in our short time of being together. For example... GREAT for climbing! It's too hot to wear pants, and other shorts create that unsightly, unavoidable harness weggie bunch thing, gross. But, not my Baggies! Like to get dirty?? Do it! Roll around in the mud, climb a tree, wrestle in jello.. doesn't matter.. I've found that my Baggies don't easily soak up or set in stains, so washing them is a piece of cake! PLUS they have pockets! Not too many comfortable shorts have pockets, and good pockets at that. So, go ahead, put stuff in your pockets and walk around worry-free. Well, like I said, those are just examples of how great m

Nice But Baggy, Waist Stiff & Runs Large

Rating:****
I'm an 8 (waist 29"/hips 36") which is supposedly a M, but the S was perfect. I did find the waist to be stiff (it's 1 1/4" wide), but maybe I'm a bit long waisted? cause it doesn't cut into me while sitting, so I can live with it. It IS baggy in the legs, but since I sew, I'm just going to take in the inseams a bit. But if you don't sew, at least it hugs your thighs enuf that your panties don't show if you're sitting crosslegged. The material is a bit crisp & makes a bit of crinkly noise but it's hard for me to find shorts in fun patterns, so overall I like them.

Best sport shorts!

Rating:*****
I love these shorts. They are the perfect length, made of lightweight fabric that dries quickly and that I barely feel. The waistband is not too high or tight and doesn't bind. They're just baggy enough that they don't choke me during activities yet not so baggy that I feel like I'm wearing men's shorts. They fit great over a bathing suit and work well for exercising, walking, running, tennis (the pockets hold several balls) and kayaking. I own 3 pairs and all have held up well for several years (except one with a print that pilled pretty badly). I'm always on the lookout for new colors!

Baggies are great

Rating:****
Comfortable fabric, nice colors and patterns. I have 4 pairs and wear them for tennis because they're not too short and have generous pockets for balls. Nice yoke over the hips gives flattering fit in the back. However, if you sit, stretch-out or do crunches they bunch-up in front around the thighs, and feel tight. Not sure what would improve this . . maybe a vent (like runners shorts) at bottom of the side leg seams, or some kind of elastic at side leg seams to ease fit? Regardless, I love them.

A classic wear anywhere and everywhere short from Patagonia

Rating:*****
When the sun comes out, so do my Patagonia Baggies. They go everwhere with me from the trail to the grocery store. Built to last and made for comfort and mobility, these baggies are another Patagonia classic that is indespenible for warmer weather. They can be serious, cinch down the waist tie for whitewater adventure and loosen up for lounging on the beach. A great harbinger of warm weather to come, I even wear them in the winter when I want to pretend it is not snowing out!
Stacey at Moosejaw (Spring 2010) on 04/03/2009

The best shorts ever.

Rating:*****
I really cannot say enough good things about baggies. They are my favorite shorts and with the DWR treatment, they're great for rainy days..it's like a rainjacket but you wear them on your legs :) I also wore them rafting and they dried before we even got in the van to go back up river. They're comfortable, true to size, and patagonia...which means great quality, great fit, recycled & recycle-able (is that a word? don't worry about it).

nothing these shorts cannot do

Rating:*****
Classic Baggies will stand up to anything and everything - will never go out of style - fade resistant and oh so durable. Yard work, the beach, travel, hiking, running... My first pair is 8 years old and you would never know from looking at them. These quick drying shorts are a flattering length with mesh pockets deep enough to hold keys or a phone. I am 5'4" and ~140# and wear a medium very comfortably.
atcsportstrigirl at Patagonia on 02/26/2009

Versatile, easy to put on and off, quick dry and durable!

Rating:*****
Great shorts in many colors. I used them mailnly for the beach and paddling but they are good as gym shorts too. If I want to go out with friends after paddlings, I just change my top. These shorts are already dry and look sporty. If they have one pocket with zipper they will be perfect. They are more comfortable and look better than the Columbia ones but the Columbias have zipper.

Great Shorts-Great Price

Rating:*****
I love these shorts so much in fact that I have 4 pair. I use them over my compression shorts to exercise in. They move great. I also wear them (over thin bathing bottoms) with a tankini top as a bathing suit. I am very modest and I like the leg length. They've done great! I've even gone off the diving board with them on and they stayed in place.

Negative Reviews:

Fit was really strange

Rating:**
I can remember my mother wearing baggies when we would go hiking and canoeing back in the late '70s and early '80s, so when I saw these online, I thought to myself, "Mom loved these, I bet I would too!" I ended up ordering a small at first which were way too tight, exchanged them for a medium which was better but still a little tight on the butt, then moved up to a large which was way too huge and was way too baggy in the front. I can see how these would be awesome shorts for the right body type, and as I said, my mother loves them, but despite trying all three sizes, I just couldn't get a decent fit. It was a little disappointing. I would recommend Patagonia's Board Shorts over the baggies personally.
calvinoscities at Patagonia on 07/04/2009

Nasty Waistline

Rating:**
I liked the fabric and design, but the waistband was so thick that it made the shorts feel like a ton even though they were really light. The fabric would be a fast drying, even repellant type, but the waist is grating, heavily bunched and seemed tight while the rest of the shorts were indeed baggy. I'm a small person and these seemed like they were grabbing me in the middle. Definitely a return/exchange item for me.

Not impressed

Rating:**
The fabric feels plastic-like, the waistband is hard and torturous. I'm not sure what you'd use these for... maybe over your swim bottoms? The material felt like it would chafe if you were sweating and working out in them. Love the brand but will never buy these again, I returned them.

OK

Rating:***
I have had numerous pairs of these shorts for about 10 years and they do last a long time. But Patagonia does seem to change the styling slightly every couple of years. My complaint with these is the rise gets kinda big as the sizes go up, which leaves us short people( 5'4") with a choice. We can push the excess fabric down around our waists where it bunches up and is bothersomely bulky and pouchy! The other option is to pull the excess fabric up around you ears, if you like to wear your shorts like chest waders! So, just because we are wider in the butt area, it does not mean we are also growing in height!!!
Aurora at Altrec on 04/30/2002

Large? Sure, Patagonia.

Rating:***
Okay. You know how sometimes Patagonia clothes fit perfect, and sometimes they don't? Well, here's a case where large seems to mean "slightly tight across the butt." These are great shorts, and were perfect for the beach activities I was doing in Hawaii. But I sort of hoped they would fit a little bit (LOT) better than they did. Also, they are a sort of funky purple-brown that I really wasn't expecting. I would say, buy them if you know they fit and you love them, otherwise, maybe think about ordering a size up.

Seem like great shorts, mine were defective

Rating:***
I ordered these for my trip to Alaska. They felt great when I put them on and they were very nice looking. However, one leg was about 1/2 inch longer than the other, and when I took them off I could tell that they were not sewn straight. I am returning these and hopefully the next pair will be sewn straight. I really love Patagonia products and these seemed like the perfect pair of shorts.
Kalie at Moosejaw (Spring 2010) on 05/30/2009

Classic

Rating:***
These shorts have been around a long time because they are simple and useful. The fit is too loose in the leg to be flattering but they are comfortable for doing almost any outdoor activity. I would like them better with a liner, like the men's version.

Basic shorts

Rating:***
These shorts are made very well. Nice material and I love the purple color. They are a speck baggier than I like, but I plan on wearing them for casual use, over a bathing suit, washing the car, etc.
