A little one's personal furnace, the Patagonia Baby Puff Rider Jacket is built with warm, soft insulation and a weather-resistant 3.5-oz 100% polyester ripstop shell that has a Deluge® DWR (durable water repellent) finish to keep them dry when the skies unload. Inside, lightweight, compressible 200-g Quallofil® insulation maintains warmth even in wet conditions. Detailing further defies the elements: the diamond-quilted construction reduces bulk and maintains an even warmth; the durable polyester lining glides smoothly over layers; the head-hugging elasticized hood is warm and super soft; elasticized cuffs secure the fit and seal out cold; the zipper has a full-length wind flap and a zipper garage to eliminate chin chafe; 2-layer panels over the elbows and patched handwarmer pockets prevent wet-through and add abrasion-resistance. With a hand-me-down ID label inside and a reflective logo.

You don't want your toddler in therapy someday complaining about not having a puff rider jacket...

Rating:*****
This is the 3rd year in a row we've bought a baby puff rider jacket. It's awesome. The zipper is easy to work, and even comes up against a zipper cover up top for preventing chafing little ones' chins (thoughtful!). Sonny was always warm in his puff rider-even when the windy snowstorms hit while visiting grandma and grandpa in NH (those old, Patagonia-less fogies froze their geriatric butts off...). That said, little peanut never overheated or had his movement compromised by wearing his puff (he was able to learn to throw a pretty mean snowball--in grandpa's face, of course! Buy the darn jacket. That way, Junior’ll have more time to tell his shrink about your authoritarian toilet training.
