Positive Reviews:nice bag | | Rating: | | I found this bag to be a very nice travel bag. I usually carry a very large camera bag, but chose not to on a recent two week trip to Italy. This is a bag a guy can carry without looking like a purse. It is well made and has great capacity which I liked. Since I am used to carrying a heavy camera bag, I did not mind the fully loaded weight, and carried it all day for two weeks. Some might find it heavy. I could load a jacket, umbrella, 1 litre water bottle, two books, and jacket with rather tight packing. Also all the usual purse stuff. Things I liked the best 1-size and comfort. The pad on the shoulder strap is sufficient for the load and moves easily when the bag is moved from front to side to back. 2-It carries well on the front, side, or back. 3-Sturdy construction. 4-outside flat rear pouch, perfect for books or magazines without opening the flap (excellent for carry on, fits nicely under an economy airline seat.) 5-Secure latch, I was not sure of the latch set up at first, but it worked fine. 6-Good variety and size of internal compartments.
I can think of three things to improve it. 1-outside closing cell phone pocket. 2-make it available in a smaller size for someone not wanting a big purse like this. 3-The small zippered compartment on the outside of the closing flap is great but the zipper is placed right at the edge. If the flap is tilted and the zipper opened, things fall out. Placing the zipper an inch away from the edge holds things in place when opened (coins etc.) | | ray at REI on 05/05/2009 | Great bag with one flaw | | Rating: | | Great small carry-on bag or around town man-purse or ladies bag. Holds what you need - book, cell phone, some papers, notebooks, even a laptop if it's not too big. You could even fit an extra shirt and your toothbrush, etc in it for an overnight trip, if you like to travel really light.
Well made and tough, if a bit heavy, with one exception. The front latch is odd and completely popped off for me. There are also magnets that hold the flap down, but all four rivets on the latch popped off at once. However, with four very small nylock nuts and bolts from the local hardware store, I managed to reattach it much more securely than it was originally.
With an improved latch, it would be a five star bag. | | Homebrew Pete at REI on 06/06/2009 | Solid Commuter bag | | Rating: | | I have owned this bag for 3 months. I use it daily on my commute to work. Plenty of storage for books, liter bottle, and electronics. I like the many pockets. Front outside pocket is great for keys, badge and headphones. Back pocket is convenient for book and glasses. Storage in main compartment is surprisingly large. Swallowed my Netbook, umbrella, and anything else I could drop into it. It took a minute to get used to the latch, but I like the simplicity and the magnets are stong as a back up Easy to carry on my shoulder, but I also like the hand carry handle. Nice size for a hand carry. This is a solid, well built, bag that I expect to enjoy for many years. | | cheaha bill at REI on 01/01/2010 | Great Around-town Bag | | Rating: | | This is my main commuter bag that I take on buses, trains, and so forth. Good for books and other paperwork, a one liter bottle of water, snacks and other necessities.
Don't expect this bag to be waterproof. It will shed a little water, but a heavy rain will have water leaking down the back slot.
It still beats carrying a backpack for traveling in sometimes confined areas. It looks pretty sharp too. | | Rainserpent at REI on 12/12/2009 |
| Negative Reviews:Lasted for about 6 months... | | Rating: | | | Really loved this for the first few months, but the internal pocket seams gave out after about 3 months and the primary buckle broke after 6. | | Scott in OR at REI on 07/07/2009 |
