This bike is great.

I don't understand the negative response by JT for AZ. For a 3-6 year old this bike is way better than the junk at [...]. Granted those bikes may be $65, but after the training wheels are off they fall apart. My girl is about to turn 4 and loves this bike, and it will last her until she is ready to move up to the 20 inch around 6 years old. For the money I thought it was worth it. Fell confident buying this for your girl. It's built to last.

riding is believing

1. The review by TJ from AZ should be deleted and the review-stars corrected higher. It appears TJ did NOT buy one, but looked at one on-line photo that has the fork mounted backward.
2. Our daughter had such instant confidence, she even overcame her preference for "Boy-style" bikes.
3. As recommended to the REI mechanic, we will instead mount springy training wheels labeled "E-Z", because they allow natural steering and leaning into a hard turn -- no more tip-overs into the blackberries, please !

Great Bike

Rating:*****
My daughter picked out this bike and really likes it. I find the build quality for a kids bike to be very good. We had a cheaply made 12 inch kids bike and the difference is night and day. Only thing I don't like are the training wheels. Not very adjustable. Overall though, I expect my daughter will get a lot of use out of this bike over the next few years.

Great first bike

Rating:****
My daughter loves this bike. It's her first bike and she learned how to use the brakes within 10 minutes of using it. This bike is high quality and will last us several years.

Negative Reviews:

No better than a [$] Huffy.

Rating:*
Not a lick of aluminum for [$]? Shame on you REI. The only difference between this and a bike at a discount store is $100 and Novarra decals. And the discount bike will have the fork installed correctly (kids bikes should have MORE rake, for stablility). Look to the Marin or a Specialized for a truly quality, lightweight bike for your kid.
