Mountain Gear

Make the most of your backcountry adventures with Mountain Hardwear's Intention 75 backpack that provides plenty of comfort with a full HDPE framesheet and an Advanced Fit-Lock hipbelt system with a lumbar pad. Dial in the fit hipbelt that conforms to your figure for better load transfer to your legs while you maintain the utmost comfort through the shoulders with the adjustable torso length; if you need to carry less, strip this pack down or remove its lid or top compartment - both convert to small daypacks.

Features:

  • Carry your load comfortably and efficiently with dual density, soft-edge shoulder straps attached to an adjustable Velcro yoke that can be customized to each user with a 2-inch torso length range
  • Easily access the contents of the main compartment through the long side zip and store additional gear in the top pocket and front compression pocket
  • From the trailhead to camp, your back is comfortable with the full HDPE framesheet with an alloy shaping rod and center stay that provide vertical load support and stability
  • Protect your sleeping bag from moisture in the large sleeping bag compartment with a double bottom; removable pad accessory straps at the bottom
  • Reduce pressure points and lost energy with the hourglass-shaped lumbar pad that helps the hipbelt to fit more snugly and distribute the load efficiently; tighten up your pack with the side compression straps
  • Reduce weight by detaching the top 2-compartment pocket when you don't need it, or get a daypack by either converting the front compression pocket into a small daypack with mesh shoulder straps and a webbing waistbelt or simply remove the lid and use it as a small daypack
  • Remove some of the load from your shoulders by dialing in the fit of the Advanced Fit-Lock hipbelt system that allows you to connect a Velcro overlay to the soft contoured belt
  • Stay hydrated on the trail with large stretch mesh side pockets ideal for water bottles or carry your bladder in the externally accessible hydration sleeve; "Leave No Trace" code of ethics printed inside main compartment by hydration sleeve is a helpful reminder to obey the rules of nature

The comfort-oriented Intention is designed for large loads and long days on the trail. The secret to the pack’s suspension is our custom-shapeable Fit-Lock hipbelt, which wraps around the framesheet to draw the load tight, providing excellent balance and load transfer. Both the hipbelt and shoulder straps have soft edges and smooth surfaces to remain comfortable all day. The bag design is strong on versatility, with a front compression pocket that converts to a daypack, a removable top lid, side zip access to the main compartment, and water bottle pockets you can actually reach while wearing the pack. Intention suspension offers well-cushioned load carrying comfort in a clean, tunable design. HDPE framesheet with 6061 alloy perimeter shaping rod and 7075 center stay for load support. Advanced FitLock hipbelt integrates solidly with framesheet to create excellent load transfer and spreads load evenly over contact area to maximize comfort. Hourglass lumbar pad improves hipbelt wrap for better fit. Contoured dual density, soft-edge shoulder straps on a Velcro adjustable yoke can be adjusted for optimal fit over a 2” range. Top loading design with long side zip access into main compartment for easy access to contents. Lower sleeping bag compartment with zip access and removable divider. Front compression pocket with daisy chain converts to daypack with mesh shoulder and webbing waistbelt. Big, Comfortable!

Rating:****

Giant Pack! This thing holds LOADS of gear. Almost too big!

I fit 160 meters of ropes, full trad rack plus lunch, 5 liters of water, clothes, other bits, around about 45 lbs, carried VERY comfortably (with room to spare).

I'm 6'1" and chose the Large, which was too big, I'm going with the Medium.

This pack holds gear for many days, very comfortable, sort of difficult to get set up as far as the waist belt attaching with velcro, but once it's dialed in, it's perfect. I like more pockets than this has, but I can deal with bags.

Bottom line - comfortable load hauling pack, in a no frills package.

sturdy for sure...

Rating:***

Not a bad pack overall. Good for heavy loads. Took it through some super thick blow down through the Stratton pond/bourne pond trail in VT. Packed around 40-45 pounds of gear. Very sturdy over some really sketchy terrain. It did start to dig into th lower back a bit, which is why i'm going to a medium size. One of the clips broke while strapping it down on day two which is disappointing. I love MH gear and own tent, bag, and other gear so I was surprised by this. Will use it for late/early trips when more gear is necessary.
