Positive Reviews:Heavy, warm, well-made, maybe a tad big | | Rating: | | | I bought these for trail running. I'll also use them for hiking. The first thing I noticed was they felt heavy. I've only used them twice so far; once on a 8 mile hike and next on a 15k event. On the hike they felt a little sloppy in the heal and too warm, though I need narrow heals and a wide toe box, and anything that claims to be waterproof is probably going to feel too hot to me. I normally wear size 10.5-11 Asics (which run small). I bought these in a 10.5 but I probably would have been OK with 10s. In other words, these may be true-to-size but if you're debating between two sizes I'd opt for the smaller, especially if you're not wanting a lot of sock. I used some nice "woolie boolies" for the 15k run and everything was fine. If they hold up (and it looks like they will) I think I'll like these for winter runs and hiking with mid-weight wool socks. I'll use something smaller and lighter for warm weather. The lacing system is nice and works well, but getting everything tucked away into the little elastic pocket without accidentally loosening the top laces can be a challenge. Bit of a design oversight that one. | | Steve at Sierra Trading Post on 11/17/2009 | Like a Glove... For your feet | | Rating: | | This is my first pair of trail shoes. I wanted something a little lighter weight for my short hikes with my wife that is just discovering the new thing called hiking. :) I got these shoes for myself and must say they are fantastic. The dual lace system is amazing. You can dial these things in like I've never seen. There are no pinch spots, no sensation of feeling seams or areas where your feet are not completely supported and encased. These truly are the most comfortable shoes I've worn. The soles are great too. They grab the trail and inspire confidence. They absorb the hits and give the feeling of dancing up and down the mountain. I've yet to test them in the mud or rain. Doubt I ever will. We live in AZ and on the off chance we get rain I also own an XBox.... The tongue however looks like it would seal out most everything and considering how snug they fit around my feet I don't think water would even fit inside. Overall EXCELLENT SHOES! | | gary at Backcountry.com on 03/19/2009 | Great Shoes | | Rating: | | | Vibram soles, waterproof, easy lacing system (similar to Salomons). My first pair of waterproof trail running shoes for [$] and they include Vibram soles. Very happy with shoes. The shoes are rated to be 1/2 a size small, but I had to send the 1st pair I ordered back because my heel was not secure at all, it pulled out pretty badly, so I feel that there are issues with that part of the fit. Ordinarily a half size larger is a desirable thing for me regardless of whether it's necessary or not but not the case here. The length is pretty much true to fit, but perhaps the shoe is a touch narrow but not so that it's a problem for me. I have a relatively medium width foot and these fit very well and are very comfortable. Being waterproof also means that they are warmer, which is helpful in chilly weather and walking in snow. Very pleased all around. Great price. Some of the best shoes I've ever owned. | | Grueners at Sierra Trading Post on 12/06/2009 | Excellent trail shoes | | Rating: | | | After reading that some other reviewers found this shoe too small, I ordered a half-size larger than normal. But unfortunately, those were too big for me. I had to return them for my normal size. No harm done. Even with these, they are still not a tight fit. I can wear a more padded sock than my other running shoes; and, I need to crank the laces down quite a bit to feel secure in these. And, I am also getting a tiny bit of heel lift - still. Oh, and those laces... the dual toggle system is a waste. It's a gimmicky solution to a problem I didn't have. I don't like it. But out on the trail, once you've got those other issues squared away -- these shoes have performed very well. Great traction and stability. Comfortable and very little break in time. The 'OT' waterproofing has been reliable. | | STW at Sierra Trading Post on 12/17/2009 | A little funky, but funky can be good | | Rating: | | | The traction provided by the Vibram soles is really stellar. I haven't slipped yet & I've been over some rather challenging terrain. Also, the waterproofing is very effective. As long as the waterline doesn't come to the foot entry hole, you'll stay dry. Lacing system takes a bit to get used to, but I like it now. I prefer the footbed & support of [...], but the price & features of the Lafumas were tough to beat. | | the quicker vicar at Sierra Trading Post on 11/24/2009 | High quality, but fit may be issue. | | Rating: | | | Well made, flexible and well cushioned. The only issue with this shoe is the fit. It is true to length (I typically wear 9.5 to 10 in athletic shoes and in this shoe the 9.5 was the right length) but I found it snug in the forefoot (but no uncomfortable pressure points) and a bit sloppy in the heel. If the shoe fits you - wear it. | | DGD at Sierra Trading Post on 11/30/2009 | Great for cold weather running | | Rating: | | | Great fit, i have a narrow-ish, high arch. Much stiffer than my go-to running shoes but more flexible than many other winter running options. Tested in a snowy winter trail run through semi-frozen creeks and feet stayed dry and warm. On dry pavement (even in cold) I would always opt for regular running shoes, but these are great when off trail in snow/muck. | | 3runner4 at Sierra Trading Post on 12/28/2009 | Kept my feet completely dry | | Rating: | | | I went for a 4 mile walk both yesterday and today in pouring down rain. I wore a GORE-TEX shell and rain pants so all the water ran down my legs onto the tops of my shoes. Both days the shoes stayed completely dry. I was very pleased, because walking long distances in the rain is what I bought these shoes for. | | Hiker at Sierra Trading Post on 12/15/2009 | Keep your feet warm! | | Rating: | | | I ordered this shoe according to my actual size, rather than the recommended half size shorter. It will feel a bit narrow in the toe box, but that goes away with more use. I found these shoes very warm on my feet, definitely not for use on HOT days, but GREAT for wet, winter weather. | | Weezie at Sierra Trading Post on 12/29/2009 | Great shoe great price | | Rating: | | | I was extremely pleased the shoes from the start. They fit great and are very well constructed. They do seem to need some breaking in time, albeit short. I would defenately purchase these shoes again | | Walk the Dog Dad at Sierra Trading Post on 12/09/2009 |
| Negative Reviews:short lived | | Rating: | | while the Sky Race OT seemed like a good deal at first, I found that the seam between the sole and eva midsole began coming apart only a month after purchase. For some reason, super-glue will not work on this product either (not that it should have to, mind you). Lafuma customer service claimed that the shoe must have been "mis-used"!
I found the whole experience rather disappointing and would not purchase this brand again. | | tom100233989 at Backcountry.com on 03/25/2009 |
Neutral Reviews:OUTDRIED | | Rating: | | I have this shoes and i love it in many ways, light weight, stability, looks and comfort.outdry is very good in water proofing but its seems to me that the outdry fabric did not laminated virtually 360,
the upper mesh is outdry laminated but the insole or the footbed part is not, the materials in the outer part of the shoe (mesh synthetic upper) absorbs litlle water and enters in between the glued midsole. i felt it when i was walking 1 inch flood water in 15 mins. when I check it, my sock have wet marks in the lower part of my foot. not that really wet but it makes me feel uncomfortable.
I hope outdry and Lafuma will fix this little problem.
because i love this shoes and i want to buy some pair again.
I hope this time they make it more better. | | Dann at Backcountry.com on 10/12/2009 | they are True to size | | Rating: | | | i am dissapointed with these, i have two pair of salomon speedscross2's and thought these would be similar, probably just my feet but the tounge really bites into the from of my ankles very annoying, construction and quality are good,i ran in the snow the other day with them they did not get wet, i like lafuma products, i guess don't order shoes you don't know online is the lesson to be learned | | gearho at Sierra Trading Post on 12/09/2009 | I almost love this shoe | | Rating: | | | The shoe is great. It fits well and has great traction. The lacing system is goofy. If I was at a store and tried them on I probably wouldn't have bought them because of the laces. However, I won't send them back because of it. The shoes don't breathe as well as I had hoped. These shoes would have gotten a 4+ from me if they regular laces. | | JuniorBacon at Sierra Trading Post on 12/17/2009 | shoe runs wide-- first usage wet toe | | Rating: | | | use trail and golf only when wet--had wet toe first time out on trail | | fred the golfer at Sierra Trading Post on 11/16/2009 | Not a 1/2 size too small | | Rating: | | | actually is correct size, not 1/2 size small | | Scott at Sierra Trading Post on 12/11/2009 |
