Positive Reviews:| Rating: | | | Good Keens, wide toe box great! I have been wearing Keens for almost 5 years now. I've owned several styles. This shoe is a great everyday run around shoe with a little extra in case you hit some rocky terrain. It is not a hiker/athletic hiker like the Targhee. The Briggs looks are GREAT! Very stylish. I get compliments from men and women alike; I have the driftwood/pampas color combo. The Briggs were not a perfect fit for me because they are a little wide, although I have a wide foot (C-width). However, I can put my orthotics in this shoe which I can't with most shoes, including Keens. The toe box is wide (5 stars) but be aware the entire shoe runs wide, including the heel area. I wear thick socks to take up the slack. Arch support, without my orthotics, is good. Shock absorbency is fine too. Just remember it is not an active wear shoe so don't expect those kinds of features. I walked for 3 hours over cobblestone roads and uneven brick in Williamsburg, VA and the shoes performed excellently. I didn't feel any bumps and the shoes steadied me so my knees and ankles were always stabilized. I love this shoe! | | Anonymous at Zappos.com on 12/30/2008 | | Rating: | | | This is my second pair of Briggs from Keen, and I absolutely love them. My first pair was a birthday present, three years ago. I wore them every day of fall, winter and spring (summer is too short not to wear flip flops!) for those 3 years. My first pair is still very comfortable and holds up very well, even through some abuse like unexpected off trail hiking. After three years, the shoes just don't look "clean" anymore (they were a light sand shade) so I bought a new pair. Now I have a week pair and a weekend pair! I LOVE those shoes. The back (where the Achilles tendon hits) was a bit hard on one of the shoes, but wearing thicker socks takes care of that until it softens up a bit. They are very comfortable and I think they are the perfect city shoe: they look great, they fit well, they are very comfy, and they are very well made. I have and will repurchase again. | | Kateryn R. at Zappos.com on 05/19/2009 | I'm ready for Italy! | | Rating: | | Wanted to thank you for the Keen Briggs shoes and the great customer service I got when I ordered them. I don't often order things on-line, so I was pleased it was so easy and really cheap to ship them. Here, in Canada, these shoes retail at stores and on-line stores for almost twice the price so I think I got an excellent deal with this site.
I had researched the Keen shoes prior to ordering so I was fairly certain the size I ordered would fit and they did. I wore them right away and they feel great--really roomy through the toe and enough support that it feels like an athletic shoe but doesn't look like one--kinda funky looking. These shoes will be going to Italy with me shortly--I bought them for walking long hours on cobblestones and trekking through countryside.
It was an excellent experience ordering through this site-very safe and the shoes came when you said they would--so ya, I am stoked!
Thanks again! | | amy3dog at Backcountry.com on 05/01/2008 | The perfect travel shoe | | Rating: | | | This is my third pair of Keen Briggs. I wore the other two pairs out by wearing them absolutely EVERYWHERE. I have arch problems, so I wear them a half size larger to accomodate my custom arch supports. I walk around five miles a day for fitness. The Briggs not only are perfect for walking, they are so comfortable I do not have to take them off when I am thru with my walk. I just keep going...Oh, and did I say they are stylie? I am ready to take them to Europe and walk the cobblestones, AND look hip at the same time. The ONLY negative I would have to say is if you have standard to narrow feet, the Briggs are built wide in the toe box. However the heel cup is snug so sliding forward is not so much of an issue as is the look of your feet. | | Bear at Sierra Trading Post on 04/22/2009 | Five Stars! | | Rating: | | | After reading other reviews I made the decision to purchase these shoes for a trip to England and France. I knew I'd be doing lots of walking and with a history of heel and ankle issues I wanted a shoe that offered comfort and stability. These shoes surpassed my expectations. They are fantastic! No matter how many hours I spent on my feet, no matter where I walked (city streets, countryside) I remained comfortable and pain-free. I usually wear a 6 or 6.5 so based on other reviews I ordered a 6.5 and got a perfect fit. These are rugged, easy to clean, and after lots of wear mine still look new. Also, the price was the best I'd found - elsewhere these shoes ran in the neighborhood of $100. Sierra Trading had them on sale for less than half of that price! This excellent purchase gets five stars! | | LuckyDuck63 at Sierra Trading Post on 09/24/2009 | Very comfortable! | | Rating: | | | This is my first pair of Keens - the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the style. Since it's my first pair, I'm getting used to the toe bump and the wider front (I almost didn't keep them because they looked "clownish" to me). However, I've gotten several compliments on them and am starting to warm up to their unique look. They are incredibly comfortable and have great arch support. As a serious runner, I found my dressier shoes causing muscle and joint aches. I needed a more supportive shoe that I can wear to work (something that is NOT a running shoe!). They're exactly what I need! These shoes are great for a more casual, everyday look. | | Running Gal at Sierra Trading Post on 03/12/2008 | Second pair of Briggs - love them! | | Rating: | | | These shoes are extremely comfortable. They are my second pair of Briggs and I get many compliments on them. The leather is buttery soft and very durable (my other Briggs are over a year old and holding up with regular wear). They are also water resistant, I've even walked in puddles in them and stayed dry in heavy rainstorms. Great arch support, great for wide feet (although with laces they should fit other feet as well. Sierra Trading Post has great prices on Keen shoes and I'm always looking for new ones on their website. Keen Briggs shoes are among the most comfortable, durable, stylish and fun shoes I own. Highly recommend. | | Happy Sierra Shoe Shopper at Sierra Trading Post on 04/01/2009 | love old school style | | Rating: | | i picked up these shoes as a backup for when my current pair die (there is a small tear developing on the sole). i wanted this style vs. the newer one where there is this extra color/material on the first pair of lace holes. these shoes are super comfortable, require zero break-in time and are great for my feet which are wide in toe area, but narrow in heel. they are also lightweight and come with a really comfortable insole (usually i toss them out as soon as i get them and replace with superfeet etc). they don't have as much longevity as i'd like but the comfort is worth it. | | Augustine at Backcountry.com Outlet on 10/09/2009 | | Rating: | | | Keen does it again - Unlike other reviewers, I ordered my usual size (8.5) and felt my toes hit the front. A 9 is perfect for me, perhaps because I'm wearing medium-thick hiking socks. These shoes are chunky and adorable and look terrific under jeans and with shorts. Typical of Keen, these are hardy shoes that will doubtless last a long time. Love 'em. They're especially recommended for people with high arches/insteps, since the laces allow for adjustment all the way down. The lugs let go of dirt, but seem grippy on any surface, wet, or dry. And, as always, Zappos customer service and delivery speeds rock. | | Susan at Zappos.com on 06/19/2009 | | Rating: | | | Love these shoes! Bought these in black for myself for the winter. When my husband saw them, he asked for a pair and so I got a pair for him! He wears his every day to work (on his feet all day doing building maintenance), and loves them! He also tells me a lot of his co-workers compliment him on the shoes! This is great because he's picky, and only wears DMs or Nike. So comfortable and easy care, too. My second pair of Keens and won't be the last! These shoes run short, I had to order up a half size! | | Dee O at Zappos.com on 02/25/2009 |
| Negative Reviews:| Rating: | | | These shoes are super comfortable, but I've had them less than a month and the soles are already wearing through. The soles are terrible. Don't purchase if you want long lasting shoes. | | Dylan at Zappos.com on 03/21/2009 | Cid | | Rating: | | | Upset that I bought the size I generally wear and its too tight. It's to much hassle to send it back. | | Cid at Sierra Trading Post on 12/29/2009 |
Neutral Reviews:cute shoes, not for serious walking | | Rating: | | | I wanted a comfortable non-tennis shoe that I didn't need to supplement with orthotics for a trip where I would do a lot of walking. They fit well enough for casual wear but killed my high arches by the end of the first day of lots of walking. Cute, but wider than I needed and not enough support. | | azcrazy at Sierra Trading Post on 04/22/2009 | Seems to run small | | Rating: | | | Sorry to say-I had to return these shoes. I wanted to keep them! But they were 1/2 size too small. I wish the description had mentioned this. I tried to order another pair, but they were sold out. It is hard ordering online when the description doesn't mention this. | | V-Star at Sierra Trading Post on 04/20/2009 | They're allright | | Rating: | | | Very cute..not so comfortable really stiff | | mandee at Sierra Trading Post on 04/11/2008 |
