OVERALL: Good outdoor boot. Needed no break-in period. I walk a mile to work in the snow, ice, and slush, and my feet are warm and dry when I get there. Good traction - I don’t need my Yaktrax as often as I did with my old boots. I can just pull them on and don’t need the zipper. I can easily tuck my pant legs in them. SIZING: My feet measure as an 8.5, but I usually like wearing size 9. I tried a 9.5 and a 10 in this style, and bought the 10. The 9.5 was too short at the toe. The boot fits the way Keens usually fit on me - I have a narrow, high arched foot, and these are a little wide, but with better arch support than most Keens. (I usually find Keen footwear uncomfortable because of how flat footed they are - they seem like they are made for people with wide, flat feet. I like how Keens look, but this is the 1st pair I’ve bought because they usually aren’t comfortable) WALKING: They were nicer for walking than the Patagonia Lugano, Keen Winthrop, Baffin Dawa, and Sorels I tried on. They have more of a rocker bottom foot instead of a clompy feel you get in a lot of winter boots. NIRVANA: If I could redesign them, I’d make them taller so I could snowshoe in them and walk through deep drifts. I’d also add a drawstring or some way to close off the top so snow doesn’t get in. ZAPPOS: Always an A+ for service. Received 5 pairs of boots to try on in 2 days! THANK YOU!

Warm, feminine,lightweight-great boot!

Rating:*****
Living in VT I needed a very warm sturdy boot. I also needed a boot that was easy to get on and off, since i'm a Mom to a small one and often am holding him and groceries as I try to take off my boots! But, also wanted a boot that was feminine - unlike my prior winter boots that were functional but clunky, too tall and heavy. These Keen Betty Boots are awesome! They are soft, warm, lightweight, hit at the calf, easy to use zipper with two pull on tabs (on front and back of boot) and a great price here on Altrec! Upon arriving at home with my son, I unzip the boot before getting out of the car, get him, walk thru the snow to the front door, and can slip the boots off easily at the door, yet they stay on well from car to door, even with the zipper down. This boot is just what I wanted. **Definite note-buy half size up! I am a definite size 7 and they were way too tight! 7 1/2 fits perfect! This is a narrow boot too and there is no way it would fit anyone that has feet that fall outside the 'standard' foot width.

Picture this, Christmas morning 2009 - a white Christmas in Dallas. Lovely photos of snow from my balcony. A winter wonderland. At least it was, until I discovered a sheet of ice that prevented me from getting more than 3 feet from my front door when I needed to walk the dog. The next day found me at a local outdoors store shopping for a pair of boots. I was delighted to find these Betty boots, as I already own a pair of Keen shoes that are the most comfy things ever! Plus, I was headed to NJ in a couple of days to visit my daughter and wanted something warm and practical to wear. What a smart purchase! They were comfy right out of the box and kept my feet toasty during a visit to snowy NYC and visit to the Met. I’ve worn them bunches of times upon returning home, especially during "the Arctic Blast" when the temp dropped into the teens. I cannot praise them enough! As others have mentioned, you may want to go a half size or so up. I typically wear a size 8. These are perfect with thick Keen socks in an 8.5!

I have very high standards for our Alaskan winters. Boots are a daily staple for me. I chose these because they are super cute and water proof! I went to REI to try these on first because everyone had issues w/the fit. REI's model only had one finger loop in the back and I noticed the scrunchy sock issue right away, which totally bummed me out! Mann, I kept looking and just had to ordered them anyway. Backcountry has the double finger loop which I totally wanted AND these have not had any scrunchy heal issue and I have small heels. I would check your summer Keens and go with the same size as those. I'm normally a 7-7.5, but my summer keens are 8, so that's what I ordered... PERFECT! They go on nice, insides are cozy, perfect weight for wearing everyday and playing in the snow. Will post more if anything changes. Thanks Backcountry!!

I love Keen. The wide toe bed, the fun styling, the functionality balanced with good design and color options...I'm a big fan.
These boots are wonderful - like many slip-on boots, they slide in the heel, but I don't mind that when I'm shlepping around and I wear them with thick winter socks to keep the slipping to a minimum (and I did try a size smaller, but my toes jammed into the front of the boot). I wouldn't wear these winter hiking though because of the slip-on roomy fit, however they're great cold weather townie shoes.
Due to the Keen (get it? KEEN?! HAHAHAHA...sigh) attention to stitching and colors (hey, active women's clothing and shoe designers - there are some really great combinations of colors out there, follow Keen's lead, please), I get a lot of compliments on these boots from both men and women.

Boots are awesome. I have a high arch, small wide feet. They fit,and feel wonderful on my feet. I wear them daily, even snowshoeing. They do not slide around on my feet. I ordered a half size larger after reading reviews. Am glad I did, as they fit snug. No room for thick winter socks, or 2 pair. BUT I do not need them. My feet have never gotten cold, wearing only a thin cotton pair of socks, outside for hours! I love them. If you want thicker socks inside, go a full size larger. Wonderful support, extremely well made, feels like they were custom made just for me. You won't be dissapointed. Not the cutest, but hey, they are boots! Not bulky clunkers either. Love them!!!

I just couldn't wait to get them and now that I got them on my feet, I don't want to take them off! I am a true size 8 in Keens and I would have liked to have ordered an 1/2 size up but they only had size 8 or 9, and I thought the 9 would be too big. I hate wearing socks all year round, even in the winter, so the size 8 fits good. Nice and snug. I can get away with wearing thin socks but no room for thick ones. Very comfortable and so darn cute! I wasn't sure about how bright the green would be but they match my Eddie Bauer winter coat perfectly. I can't wait for snow to hit!

these boots are great for trudging through any wet weather conditions...snow, slush and rain. good traction. they are warm and absolutely waterproof. I bought the 'dark shadow/bayou and they look great with jeans...both tucked in the boot or over the boot. i love that they are weather appropriate and still look cute. easy on and off and seem very durable. good comfortable fit. I agree with the recommended use for "casual winter wear", dont think they'd be great for long serious hikes in the snow because they aren't laced up with a lot of ankel support. ALSO, i wasn't sure if i should order a half size up but i DID and it fit perfectly. very happy with my purchase, highly recommend them.

Comfort, Warmth and Style...You can have it all!

Rating:*****

All I wanted was an all black pair of boots that were warm, comfortable and stylish. After what seemed like a hopeless search to have all three of those qualities, I found the Betty Boot! They feel great with the cushioned sole and soft lining, are easy to put on with the zip side and they look great too! An added bonus is that they are waterproof! I ordered a half size up as suggested and they fit perfectly with a mid-weight sock. My toes are toasty warm but not sweaty! :)This is my first pair of Keen footwear and they truly live up to the reputation I've heard so much about!

I am not really a fan of snow and have been trying to find a good pair of boots for the last several years. Typically my issues with boots are that they don't have good traction, they tie, and they are not comfortable. My toes usually start to freeze in the other boots I have had. I have found the Keen Betty Boot to meet all my winter criteria. I can easily get them on and off which is great when trying to wrangle 2 small kids in and out the door. They are comfortable enough to wear while grocery shopping and are warm enough for shoveling snow. I love these boots!

Fit is strange

Rating:**
I was so excited to get these boots, and then super disappointed to have to send them back the next day. Even though I ordered up a half size like I do for all Keens, the toe was still too short. Strangely, even though the boot was too short for my foot, it was too large everywhere else. My heels slipped, and the top of the boots were huge around my shins. Since you can't adjust the fit, they had to go back.

Returned them after trying on

Rating:***
I bought these to be an attractive shoe to wear to walk around the city. Unfortunately, the place the shoe hits my big toe joint (on top of my foot) was very uncomfortable. I tried walking around my house for a while to test them out, but it left an indentation on the top of my foot. Also, since I understood these to be designed for comfort, I was surprised by the height of the heel. The whole sole was uncomfortably heavy and put my foot higher off the ground than I want in a stable walking shoe. The color is nice, though, and if the other elements of the sole are not an issue for you, it has good support. It just didn't work for my foot.

I bought these boots because I love my Keen shoes. I wore them sledding with the kids and they were warm and comfortable trekking up and down the hill. However, when I wore them outside to a football game my toes were cold after about 20 minutes. If you need boots for being active these are the ones. If you are looking for something to keep your feet warm while sitting in a freezing stadium or for being outside for long periods of time where you are not "making your own heat" (snowmobiling etc), buy something else.

I ordered 4-5 pairs of snow boots and these were a pair I sent back. They felt 1/2 small. The boots have a zipper on the side but there is not any overlap behind the zipper to protect your foot . I felt like you would get a cold or wet spot right where the zipper is.

Like em but slips on the heel

Rating:***

Really liked these at first.Still like them but the fit on the heel is loose, so your heel slips up while walking making it a bit difficult to run around in the snow. So I'm more iffy about them now. Still... they are really warm and waterproof.

So cute but not so comfortable

Rating:***
The boots are amazingly warm, and I've gotten lots of compliments on their look/style. However, every time I take a step, the fabric from the side of the boot bends into my ankle. After several steps, this becomes quite painful.

This boot ran smaller than my other pairs of Keen boots and I went up a size. I also had a problem with the insole, so I returned them

Fits on the small side. My daughter wears an 8.5, and a 9 was too tight. With ski socks on, prob a 10 would be better.
