Positive Reviews:

Much better than the Colorado.

Rating:*****
After a bad experience with the Colorado, the EMS staff set me up with the Oregon.

Signal is found quickly, topo maps are accurate and useful. Assigning a waypoint is simple. User interface is also easy to use, especially with touchscreen.

Unit stands up well to water...both rain and a quick submersing in the river.

The touchscreen of the Oregon is much easier to deal with than the clickwheel of the Colorado.

Battery life is ok. Backlight really drains batteries, but good quality rechargeables help out.

Garmin's website has a good demo to show off features.

Very impressed so far.

Rating:*****
This lives up to its Editor's Choice Award by Backpacker as the best electronic gadget of 2008. Excels in geocaching, directs you to within 15-20' of the cache then zeroes in with the coords, almost makes finding the caches too easy. Hiking? It's already directed me back across a snowfield to the very point where I'd first entered it. It can be a bit tricky to see in some light conditions, batteries seem to go a bit faster than I expected but it's a great little toy, well worth the cost. Get the better maps (1:24,000) as needed.

Worthwhile investment!

Rating:****
Received this for my birthday to use mainly for Geocaching & so far it's been AWESOME!! I turn it on and within one minute it is satellite ready. It has been within 5ft of accuracy on coordinates. I love that I can read the entire cache description without having to shelp around a PDA or extra notes like I did with my older GPS. I'm still getting used to the touch screen & its sensitivity, but overall, worth every penny!!

Happy

Rating:*****
This thing works great in all weather conditions and is really accurate. It was really easy to pick up and use right out of the box. the touch screen menus are easy to understand. very little interaction is needed with the manual. this is my first GPS so i know its good the novice user. It should also be good for the advanced user as it is loaded with features. no remorse with this purchase.

Great product

Rating:*****
Excellent value for all the features, especially if you get a discounted price. Highly portable with an excellent display. Very easy to use without ever looking at the manual. Could not get it to lock onto roads with the topo base map. Garmin does not allow loading road software onto more than one GPS if you already own the CD; therefore, you must purchase another unlock code at full price which is very high.

Outstanding!

Rating:*****
This gps gives me great reception all the time. Its capabilities are seemingly endless. It gets satisfactory battery life with cheap batteries and even better battery life with lithium batteries. It is accurate and easy to learn how to use. I love you Oregon 400t you're the best!

Great unit but poor visibility

Rating:***
I was really excited about the unit until I took it outdoors on my bike. It was totally unreadable even at maximum intensity. I had to hold it very close ourdoors, even when overcast. I found it unpractical for bicycle use. I regrettably decided to return the unit and will get a Garmin Edge.
