Great sleeping bag

Rating:*****
I used this bag during a week long backpacking trip in the Green Mountains in mid-May. The temperatures got down into the mid-30's (F) during this trip. Despite the fact that I was sleeping in a hammock (hammocks tend to sleep colder than tents, because the air outside the hammock conducts warmth away from your body, whereas the ground under the tent provides some insulation against heat loss) the Dreamlite 500 kept me warm enough. I should mention that I wore extra clothing and used a closed cell foam pad with wings to provide extra insulation. However, I was very pleased with the Dreamlite 500's performance. It's hard not to like a bag that weighs just over a pound and compresses down so small. Add in the low price and it's hard to go wrong.

dreamlite 500

Rating:*****
Used this bag for my sea kayak tour from Oregon to San Diego. The compressed sized was the main reason for selecting this bag. For the cold nights; low 30's, I used the bag in combination with a Prolite 4 pad while sleeping in my clothes and it worked. I spent a total of 57 nights of the 65 in the bag for the duration of the paddle. I'll be using the same model for my next tour from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas. The down side, light weight construction compromises the durability of the product. However, for the size/weight/cost factor I opted to buy a new one when this one falls apart. This bag really is small, light, and cost effective.

Warm and lightweight but..

Rating:****
Great bag. I tested it the way I tested all of my gear, by hanging out in my living room and using it. The bag was very warm and ultralight. In fact, it was so thin my wife didn't believe it would be warm. However, it fit very tight at the shoulders. so tight in fact, I was unable to zip it all the way up without feeling claustrophobic... not to mention getting my arm stuck by the zipper. Good buy for an average sized person. I'm not overweight, but a few inches taller than most and with that comes extra shoulder girth.

BEST MINIMAL BAG ON THE MARKET

Rating:*****
Perfect minimalist bag. Without compressing the bag stuffs to the size of a small cantalope and weighs barely over a pound. I can clip it to the outside of my pack. Im five ten 175#. Its a little small in the shoulders but thats expected when your buying a bag designed to be minimal as possible. If you like being comfortable in 35 degree weather ,this bag is not for you. Used at 10,000feet with snow everywhere fully clothed. KEPT ME WARM ENOUGH TO LIVE.

Perfect for summer camping

Rating:*****
I got this light bag for a May trip in the Grand Canyon, and it worked beautifully for those 60 degree nights down at the river. It packs up to the size of a grapefruit or smaller. I see a great summer ahead for this bag in Utah, and if I ever do any hut camping, I'd imagine this would work great. Highly recommended.

Great bag for international travel, warm weather, and survival

Rating:*****
Dreamlite is the perfect bang for the buck if you need a bag for warm weather outings or international hostel travel. It's super light and packs so small that it virtually fits in the palm of one hand. Perfect as a survival bag for summer mountaineering day-trips to those desolate places here in the west just in case that the leg gets broken.

Great Value For Money

Rating:*****
This is GREAT sleeping bag. Packs close to nothing, holds up to 3C (35F) weight ~500g - Tested with European standard. There are no such bags except this and down ones. But as we know they are so much expensive. Great value for money, one could not get better.

Ultralight wonder!

Rating:*****
I bought this sleeping bag for my husband to use on a three-night backpacking trip on Catalina Island. He wanted something ultralight, but inexpensive. Temps only got down to 57 at the coldest, and this bag worked perfectly for the trip. It rolls up so tiny it's unbelievable.

Awesome bag, but sadly not right for me.

Rating:*****
This bag is awesome. It's lightweight, warm, and durable. The only problem is the width at the shoulders. When I zipped up the bag, I felt a little claustrophobic almost, but only because of the tightness on the shoulders. Everything else about the bag was as expected.

Negative Reviews:

Dreamlite is a 50 degree bag-- not 40

Rating:**
I ordered this bag based on some enthusiastic reviews for a hike in the Western Cascades and another in Sierras-- expecting to wear all my clothes (down jacket etc...) to stay toasty. I liked the idea of the 1 lb bag at this price. It didn't work for me. I am returning it. Ended up using it one night in upper 40's /50 degree weather and being uncomfortable all night. This bag is light and suitable for tent summer upper 50's camping -- not sleeping outside with a bivy. Material seems light but well made, and has potential. Just wouldn't recommend it for any altitude backpacking or temps under 50. After sleeping in it one warm night outside, we left it in the car on my backpacking trip for a Big Five Hi-Tec 15 degree Mummy --$39.98
