Excellent! (But, a 'parka'?...no)

Rating:*****
I needed a solid, waterproof winter jacket that was warm but light weight. I was a bit worried about this item being called a 'parka' because by my definition of 'parka' that would have been too heavy and too long. But, this item turned out just what I wanted. Fits great, easy zippers, velcro in all the right places, pockets are flannel-lined, and the pit-zips are great for letting more air in when snow shoveling causes too much warmth. I'm a 42 short, and it fits very well. The sleeves have a velcro cinch that allows for adjusting to short arms. The hood is OK but is subject to blowing off in a stiff breeze (not a big deal). Layering is necessary underneath it when temps go to single digits and/or the wind blows. I've been wearing it daily since I bought it and am very happy with it.

Columbia Free Agent Parka

Some reviews state they run small. I wear either a M or L depending on the brand. I got the L and it is only slightly to big. The M would have been too small. Good style and quality. Not too heavy, but much more warmth than a shell. I bought it for casual wear in cold (20-40') weather. I have a heavier jacket for skiing.

Perfect Jacket for a perfect price.

Rating:*****
Very nice winter coat. Most of the time when I order clothes from the internet, they aren't as good as they looked on the net. Not this time however, I enjoy this jacket visually and physically a lot more than the way I saw it on the internet. Very cheap too, 68% off the original price! Highly recommended.

Good coat, but not very warm.

Rating:****
I bought it planning to wear it as a winter coat. I can't really recommend it for that... it's much more of a fall/spring jacket. It's very thin, and extremely lightweight, but has almost no insulation. However, it fit very nicely, and looks great. I'd still recommend it, but not as a winter coat.

PREDICTABLE COLUMBIA QUALITY

Rating:*****
One of the best bargains we purchased from STP this year. This jacket has all the necessary amenities we were looking for. As a matter of fact, we are going to type in the number and if they still are available, will order another color. Highly recommend among the many possibilities from Columbia!!!

Great sale on a good product

Rating:****
I had hoped there would be a little more room for layering, but on the other hand, the coat is warmer than I expected so will rarely need much underneath. Without layering, good to about 10 degrees with moderate activity (brisk walk. Wish the snow skirt could be completely removed.

Beautiful Jacket

Rating:****
Its warm enough that I don't have to worry about being cold in the sub-zero temps of Michigan but if I am in the middle of a rainstorm in April, I can zip out the inner lining and the outer lining is thin enough so I don't start sweating.

Fantastic JAcket

Rating:*****
I like this jacket. Its stylish and its comfortable. I wore it when it was 35 degrees and it does a nice job of keeping you warm. It has enough pocket to hold things such as keys, phones, etc. Love this jacket!

Great Jacket

Rating:****
I use this jacket to snowboard and it works great. The powder skirt helps keep my back dry, the jacket fits nicely, and I never get too hot or cold on the slopes. It's also very stylish as well as lightweight.

stylish jacket

Rating:****
all around good jacket. maybe a little small in length. bought it for my teen boy. he is growing so fast i hope to get the season out of it. overall length in body of jacket seems a bit short.

Negative Reviews:

Too thin, too short...

Rating:*
I was looking for a thick ski jacket for long days on the slopes. I layer some, but want the coat to do most of the work. This just seemed too thin to do the job, so I sent it back. also I'm tall (6'2") and like a longer jacket that comes mid thigh, this came just to the waist and none of the reviews/descriptions mentioned that.

Definately returning it.

I expected a "Parka" to be warm and this one doesn't fit that bill in any way.

Neutral Reviews:

A decent coat for dips below freezing.

Rating:***
This item was described as a Parka. That being said, I was expecting something a lot heavier. However, it is really light and awesome for days out snowboarding. I only have two complaints with this coat. I wish it were longer. It comes down to my waste, barely. My other complaint, when I received this coat, the bottom snap was broken. Beyond these shortcomings, I'm satisfied. The price was right and it suits my needs. However, it's not an extreme temperature coat.

Parka?

Rating:***
I had to return the L for an XL, which is odd because my other Columbia jacket is an L. Also, it is described as a parka, but for really cold weather you will need an insulating layer. My other Columbia "parka" is much better insulated. Good jacket with these caveats.

Fairly Good Jacket

Rating:***
Not a bad jacket, but not really a parka, it is too light and not good for really cold weather. But it is very light for the protection it does offer. Be sure to order one size up and it will fit well.

Not what I expected.

Rating:***
I was expecting a warm winter coat. This would be nice for mild temperatures, but not cold winter days.
