The Cloudveil RPK Jacket. I think it stands for Rugged, Peerless, and Keen, but we'll debate that later. This jacket is flat out bomber. The hybrid face fabric is a soft-to-the-touch Gore-Tex Soft Shell material that sheds the weather like nobodies business. Mechanical stretch and soft hand give the outer face a great feel, while the interior brushed tricot acts like a microfleece without the bulk. Bonus features like the stretch snow skirt, removable hood, pod pocket, and pit zips will keep your spirits high while your lining up the next assault. A subtly looser cut hits with freeride style.
Bottom Line: If you're lines take you down the chutes, swiping the trees, and through the pristine stashes, then this is your coat. The quiet high tech softshell fabric maintains stealth and performs like no other.

Cloudveil RPK Jacket | |

The Cloudveil RPK Jacket is my every day ski jacket for my 100+ day ski season, mostly in-bounds. I had a previous version of this jacket, and after 3 seasons the zipper started separating from the bottom too frequently. I sent it back to Cloudveil all faded and worn, and they sent me a gift card to get a new one. I just got this year's version in Tempest, size medium. I'd say the Tempest is a bit lighter in the flesh than in the picture. I'm a pretty big fan of the color, and have already gotten a few complements on it. I'm 5'5", 135 lbs., about 35" chest diameter with slightly broader than average shoulders, and the medium is a good fit for me. My original jacket held up incredibly well after 300 or more days of skiing, and while my jacket was rather faded, the Gore Tex was still keeping me perfectly dry. The newer version has "body-mapping" light thin fleece lining on the back, which I'm not a huge fan of, but I can live with it. Other than that, it's more or less the same. It's sized to fit layers underneath, and I can wear a synthetic jacket/sweater underneath on really cold days. The main thing I would change about this jacket is make the pit zips longer, as they're rather short. Other than that, I'd say it's a really well made, durable jacket that is a great blend of function and good looks.

Excellent Quality At A Good Price

This is a very well made jacket, especially at this price. Getting the right fit was pretty tricky for me. I ordered a medium initially so there would be plenty of room for layering but there was no need. I'm 5'5", 113 lbs with 26" waist and 34.5" hips. In my opinion the sleeves on the jacket are disproportionately long so I ended up with an XS whereas I would probably have gone with the small had the sleeves not been SO long. The XS is a good fit though, still with plenty of room for a base layer plus a fleece if needed. It is a little snug at the hips but overall I am very happy with it. Plenty of pockets inside and out for all the essentials and a very cute fit for wearing off the slopes.

Great Jacket | |

I love this jacket. The softshell gore-tex is amazing. The fit is very flattering and is true to size. If you buy the blue, the color is a little more turquoise than in the photo. At this point I can not tell you any more as I had to return the jacket because it is supposed to be a Christmas present... will review more later, when I get it?!!? but I hope this helps a little, I have owned a lot of Cloudveil and love it all.

technical but stylish | |

I ordered this and the Arcteryx Scarabee at the same time. Same fabric and similar look, and I couldn't decide online which I'd prefer. I ended up keeping the RPK. For a $100 less it just seemed like better value for money. I liked the contrast zipper of the Scarabee, but really they are so similar that I didn't think it was worth the extra money. Nice darting and good articulation. Like the body mapping on inside for warmth in the right places. Awesome jacket.

RPK Jacket | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
This is an amazing jacket. It fits very well and doesn't give me the football player look that Arcteryx jackets give me. The pockets inside and out are great, with lots of place to store things. I wouldn't really consider it a soft shell, I would put it in the technical shell category. The only issue I noticed was the hood isn't helmet compatible, which is weird for a jacket recommended for skiing.

Good for layering; not for freezing temps.

| This jacket suited my purposes as an outer shell for layering for my trip to Alaska. It could not double as a winter coat and it is a little starchy. However, it is well constructed and I did receive a few compliments for the overall looks. | |

Absolutely love this jacket. The sizing is true, the green color is beautiful and it's fairly warm and very breathable. This jacket kept me dry and warm on a super-wet day on the slopes. Highly recommend the RPK!

A great shell | |

| I purchased this shell to replace an old one by another manufacturer. I wear this shell every day in winter when I am walking my dogs. It is very comfortable and fits well over several layers of clothing. | |

| This jacket was great on the ski slopes. The weather was colder than I expected but I was warm with layers underneath and its a great wind breaker. I got the blue one and love the color. | |
