beats Patagonia shells & forget about Gore-tex
| Rating: | ![]() |
| normally I am loyal to Patagonia, after spending a long time shopping their shells this winter, I went with the Koven, becoming convinced by the feel: tough-as-nails 3-layer waterproof-breathable fabric, plus amazing stretch all over for a hard shell. The fit is great for me, a size M (I am about 5'9" or 10" and about 180 lbs, athletic), both worn with a light underlayer or several midweight underlayers. It even layers nicely over my softshell and Down Sweater. It served me well doing some backcountry-style cross-country in single-digit temps and really shelters me on long downhill winter bike rides. Overall I am impressed with this jacket's versatility: from climbing to skiing to around-town utility, this jacket was a great buy! | |

Great quality, tough as nails construction!

| I tried on a Cloudveil jacket for the first time two years ago. though it had a few quirks, that was the best jacket I've had in a while. But it's ready to be retired. The Koven is a much matured version and the function that was there before has become more sleek and by the looks of it more durable. Word of warning though - this is a light jacket or raincoat. It will keep you dry and cut through the wind, but there's not much insulation built into this one. | |

Great Fitting jacket | |

| One of the best fitting ski jackets I've ever owned. Well designed hood like above reviews mention. Its a great shell for the backcountry as its light weight and the huge pockets are just right for climbing skins. Just pull this baby out after the hike and your ready to go. The stretchy material is a nice touch. For a heavier weight version try the RPK. | |

Great Shell for all activities!

| Have worn this shell skiing, running, biking and casually. Breathes and blocks the wind. Simply the best hood I have ever seen. The hood adjusts around your face so snugly and perfectly that you do not even know it is there. The shell itself is not warm so layers are necesary in colder temps. Great! | |

Great jacket | |

| This is the greatest jacket that I have ever worn. Breathes beautifully. The phase technology keeps you warm or cool based on how much you are sweating. Team this jacket up with a Patagonia R1 or R2 and you've got the perfect combination. | |

Koven Jacket | |

| Great design, fit, and attention to detail! Still waiting to put it to the test in wet weather. 4 stars for now, but five stars if it handles the rain & snow as advertised. Must be layered in cold weather. | |

| Nicely made, perfect fit, lightweight. Can't wait to ski in it! (Unlike some other jackets - the hood is just the right size - not too large) | |
