Bringing speed zone lacing to the masses. Speed Zone Express single pull lacing. Yup! We love it too. The Burton Moto Snowboard boot.
Giving both beginners and pros top shelf tech, the Moto steps up to the lightning fast lacing power of Speed Zone. Unlike any other lacing alternative out there, Speed Zone Express single pull lacing gets you in and on the hill faster than ever.
Fit Tip:All Burton Boots seem to stretch out about 1/2 size. It is normal to have a smaller Boot size than your shoe size to compensate for the boots stretching and getting "BIGGER" from how they feel in the store.
-Make sure to work with a boot tech person to fit the boot to the "SHAPE" of your foot. Fit Shape is vital to the performance of any brand of boot. Be sure to walk around in the boots(10-15min) fully laced to help make sure they are the correct shape for your foot.
-Burton boots have custom "heat-mold" liners. Take advantage of the custom fit feature.
-For improved fit and comfort consider adding a CUSTOM FOOTBED like "Superfeet" that is properly matched to your arch shape. This will help the boot anatomically support your foot which will reduce pressure points and securely hold your foot in place.
-Spend some time choosing your boots they are the most important piece of gear you'll buy.

Decent boots for a great price

Rating:****

I normally ride everywhere but the park, but I decided to get a park set up this year. I'm used to riding SL9's which are super light and ridiculously stiff. These boots were real easy to break in, light enough, comfy, and warm. The only problem I have with these boots is the speed zone lacing. They work great and hold tight all day long, but there's only 1 pull handle and the pocket to tuck the laces in is out of the way. You pull the handle of the speed zone laces tight on the right side of your boot and you tuck in everything in a pocket on the left side of the boot. So, there's a bunch of lacing that crosses your shin that you have to do something with. I tucked mine in between the liner and shell. Comparably, the SL9's have a have 2 handles on each side of your leg. 1 for each section of the boot. There's also 2 pockets where you can stash all the extra lacing and handle, so there's no way any of the laces can come loose, or rub up against you. Other than the lacing going across your leg, these boots are comfy, warm, hold your feet well, and are a steal on Dogfunk!

Extremely comfortable with great features!

Rating:*****
I was sold the moment my foot slipped in and I stood up and walked around in the store. The reason I bought them online is because my local store did not carry the white style for my wife. This boot is so comfortable and warm with just the right amount of stiffness and support without digging into the back of your upper calf. The EVA foot bed feels like having a soft pillow wrapped around your foot with the perfect amount of wiggle room for your toes. If your feet could talk they would say “Aaaaaaah, now that’s comfy!” The Speed Zone tie system is super efficient. The boot laces are separated into lower and upper boot sectors which are tighten by the left and right pull handles, which are labeled! You simply pull up, back, and into the lace lock then holsters the pull handles snuggly in the pouches on both sides of the boot. Tightening your boot takes two seconds. My friend owns these boots from last year and he really yanks on his laces and they haven’t snapped yet. I highly recommend this boot.

Good all around, a little loose

Rating:****

I'm an intermediate rider who has been renting for the past 3 years and finally sprung to buy my own gear. I've always rented burton boots and have always been a size 10. I wore these boots around the house for a day or so when I first got them. Naturally they were a bit tight at first but after a few hours they were actually pretty comfortable. When I took them to the slopes, I started getting some gnarly pain on the ball of my foot and the back of my calf. This might actually be the fault of the bindings. When I loosened up the boots, however, it helped. Of course then my boots were pretty damn loose. I know a lot of people hate that, but it works for me just fine. As long as they aren't in any danger of coming off :) The lacing system is really simple. I still haven't decided if I like it more or less than the traditional lacing. It's definitely faster... but I'm not sure if it requires constant attention yet.

Great for a beginner

Rating:****

Great pair for a beginner and you can't bet the price. First time I tried these one they were the worst fitting pair I have tried; user error. After adequately loosening the lace and fit with snowboard sock they were great. Dislike the fact that there is no lace hole on the ankle section, that would make them pretty snug. Having difficulties tightening the lower zone, again that angle lacing hole would really help. However, for a beginner those same deficiency will prevent you from getting sprain or broken ankle on a bad spill. All that said, they keep my feet warm every on the closets days. So far, we've had -12 to -24 degree and I didn't have to worry about feet getting cold once. Again for the price, these are great boots for beginners on a budget.

Damn fine boot for the price.

Rating:****

For the price, I found this to be a damn fine boot! The break in period was about a two day stretch. I am normally a 9.5/10 (regular shoes), but needed a 10.5 in these guys. The first day I had to keep stopping and re-tightening them. I have not had hem fitted, which may alleviate some of the issues I had. They were super easy to walk in and the straps were as easy as can be imagined. Seemed difficult to get them SUPER tight, if you wanted them that way! Worked good with the Custom bindings as well! Certainly were a great beg/int boot. They flexed a little, but to be expected on a lower end boot.

A Solid boot

Rating:****

I picked up last years model - and have put about 30 full days in them. To start, the single lace cable system works well. There is an upper zone that goes from the ankle up the shin, and a lower zone covering the top of the foot. You are able to get a nice custom fit, and I never need to re-adjust after I first put them on. Nothing has broken/fallen off/malfunctioned all year and look forward to this season in them. Only drawback I'd say is that it is a stiffer boot, if you are looking for a new shoe for a freestyle setup - choose another.

Excellent Boot, Excellent Delivery

Rating:*****
The Burton Moto is one of the best investments I ever made. At first, I was worried about the size since my last boots (32 brand) were not true to size and were small despite purchasing 1/2 size larger than usual. However, this boot fits perfectly without having to adjust shoe size. In addition, it is VERY comfortable and easy to lace up. The Speed Zone system is something that should go down in Snowboard gear history as one of the best inventions ever! Finally, Altrec.com's delivery was fast and on time.I will be sure to order from them again.

Burton motos

Rating:****

Great entry-level boot, comfortable after pack-out and warm, stiff enough to control an entry/intermediate board on the slopes rather than just the park with good bindings. The speed lacing system is a little wonky: once you figure out the best way to tighten / lock them they work great and get you out of the lodge fast as possible, but if you're careless the cables can come loose on the lift / hill. On the plus side you can tighten them easily with gloves on, so it's an easy fix.

Good Boots

Rating:****

Got these somewhat cheaper somewhere else on closeout, but they are good boots for a first timer. They are true to size. Using these and only Under Armour socks, I have been down to 15 degrees and my feet have stayed warm. Can't drive with them on, and they are sort of a pain to release versus my wife who paid the same price but has boots with the dial. When I get better I will get a better pair of boots, but these fit the purpose for know.

Negative Reviews:

Beginners Only

Rating:**

I rode these on the east coast on some groomers and they were fine, but once i got out to Colorado and hit some powder, and more challenging terrain, i found that my foot was moving around too much inside of the boot (Yes they are the right size). As someone who all mountain rides, I need quick response from my boots, but if my feet are moving around that increases the effort and time neccessary to make my board respond. They did not stay tight for long and it is kind of a pain to find a spot to put the cable ends. These boots put a serious damper on my weekend, buy them if you are a beginner or only riding groomers.

Not this year...

Rating:**

I've owned these boots for the last few years so I purchased these thinking they would be pretty similar... wrong. The single pull lacing is a joke compared to the two zone system of the previous year, and although I sized the boot correctly I am getting tons of heel lift. Looks like the Rulers will be getting at my bank account this year. On a positive note it is nice to know Backcountry.com will take care of my return, thanks guys!

Broke within 4 weeks!!

Rating:**
The fast lace crap sucks, the laces broke within 4 weeks!! Also, you can NOT adjust the tightness of the boots with fine control. They always felt way too loose or way to tight. Stick to old school laces!! Otherwise, kept feet warm, comfortable, but can't recommend for above reasons.

Good entry-level boot

Rating:***

The Burton Moto is an entry level boot designed for the beginning rider. The first thing I should say about these boots is that they pack out fairly quickly; after about 8 days on the slopes, they were about a half size larger. By 10 days on the slopes, I was getting a bit of heel lift. The speedzone lacing is fast, but since this boot uses the speedzone express where there's only one pull cord, I found it somewhat difficult to adequately tighten the lower zone independently from the upper zone. I also found I had to tighten these boots after every few runs because the cord catch would loosen. These boots are very flexible which is good for a beginner or the park-rat. Unlike other reviewers, I found these boots very comfortable. There's only a single speedzone lacing pull on this boot, so you get a little bit less ability to control the tightening on different parts of the book. If you're a beginner, but you're relatively sure you'll be riding quite a bit, I would actually recommend spending a few more dollars to get a slightly higher end boot. These will work for the budget conscious rider though.

Great boots if you have never ridden anything better!

Rating:***

So I got these boots after reading the reviews and they got pretty high marks! I am not really sure what the people who wrote those reviews were wearing previously but these are not the boots for someone who has riding more than 2 seasons. I have been riding for 14 years and I thought I could get away with ridding a cheap pair of boots after riding Ions for the last 3 seasons. I was wrong! If you are just starting out these are great boots, If your have been riding awhile I would not settle for anything less than the Ruler.

Dustin McClellan at Backcountry.com Outlet on 03/26/2009

good beginner boots don't stay tight

Rating:***

I just started snowboarding, so I don't have much experience with different boots. These feel great and are easy to slip on and off. However, the complaints about the lacing system not staying tight are true. it's not a major issue, you just have to tighten them every couple of runs. I would recommend these, you can't beat the price.

don2892492 at Backcountry.com Outlet on 03/06/2009

Pretty good boot

Rating:***

These boots are pretty good, not the best in my opinion. They fit a little tight cause of the liner but it does stretch out a bit. As for the lacing system, it stays tight while you ride but there is no good place to put the ends and they usually end up dragging.
