Marmot Mountain

The new Stigma is all about efficiency in the backcountry. It´s a mid-fat ski that will deal with crud, powder, or ice?is narrow enough to get on and off the edges, but still has enough width to tfloat¿ when necessary. It´s designed for long tours and shorter radius turns when you need to maneuver through the trees or in the chutes. It balances low weight for the ascent and turnability for the down. The Stigma is built using a re-engineered Formula One Technology combined with the Black Diamond-developed Torsion Bow which distributes power farther into the tips and the tails of the ski. This keeps the tip and tail lively and energized as well as maintaining the torsion rigidity at speed, and carve and conquer mixed conditions. They have a 3D CNC wood core, wrapped in a torsion box, and new high strength micro-laminates imbedded in the core, producing edge power and tsnap.¿

Mountain Gear

Black Diamond designed the Stigma to keep you on track when you're climbing technical descents, and to rail down the ascent with a carve-inspired shape. The Stigma balances low weight for the uphill trudge, and turnability for the downhill run. You'll be running laps quicker and slicing lines with more control. Specifications based on 166 centimeter length.

Features:

  • CNC-machined wood core is wrapped in torsion box construction to provide awesome edge-to-edge control
  • Dual Torsion Bow construction uses structural design to dampen chatter and reinforce flex, all while maintaining a light weight and high strength profile
  • Enhanced curved shaped adds more fun to the downhill
  • Longitudinal flex is smooth and forgiving because the BD design distributes torsional power farther into the tip and tail, making the ride more stable and easier to ski

Great beginner ski

Rating:*****
I purchased the stigmas at the beginning of the last season and used them about 30 days. The skis works well from the icy bunny slopes to the powder on the blues.

I'm a snowboarder not a skier so I don't know the limitations of this ski but by the end of the season I started to move faster than a crawl. The ski didn't have any chatter no matter what the conditions.

Another excellent thing about the stigmas is the edges and base of the ski hold up to the punishment of east coast trails. They're wider than some of the skis I looked at so I assume that's the stigmas turn well in powder(maybe I was just lucky).

The only problem I had with the stigmas was everyone would look at the skis then me than the skis in the lift line They're very orange

Take it from a beginner the stigmas are a great reliable beginner ski as long as you don't mind being stared at
