Highly technical and one-of-a-kind, the Asolo® Power Matic 500 GV GTX Hiking Boot's sole is comprised of three different PU densities that are co-injected and molded together. The high-density front portion secures and guarantees maximum stability. The medium-density heel reduces shock and resulting fatigue during take-off and landing. Further shock absorption is obtained through the four strategically placed low-density cylinders that are linked from the outsole to the midsole. Gripped with a dual-density molded rubber outsole produced in conjunction with Vibram®, the arch area uses a very high-density rubber to maximize support over the long-haul while the balance of the outsole has self-cleaning lugs designed for optimum performance on varying types of terrain.
  • Water-resistant full grain leather 2.6 - 2.8 mm.
  • Gore-Tex® performance comfort waterproof membrane.
  • Asoflex® 00 MR lasting board.
  • Lite 2 anatomic footbed.
  • Power Matic sole, triple-density PU midsole.
  • Vibram® dual-density molded rubber outsole with self-cleaning lugs for dependable, long-lasting traction.
  • Patented Micro Pulley system offers state-of-the-art materials and components that offer effortless lacing with maximum durability while remaining extremely lightweight. Each pulley works independently with reduced lace abrasion, and the result is overall improved comfort and fit.
  • Weight: 3 lbs. 8 oz.

Power up and over the rockiest trails (with a pack-full of not-so-light beer) when you wear the Asolo Power Matic 500 GV Backpacking Boot. Even if it’s not beer in your pack that weighs you down, the Power Matic sole will cushion your feet as you traverse the loose rocks. Asolo blended three different densities of polyurethane to make a stable but cushiony platform and also inserted four low-density cylinders that connect the outsole to the midsole so that the Power Matic 500 absorbs more shock than a Tokyo high-rise. The Vibram rubber outsole gives you extra arch support, while the tread pattern was designed to clean itself for repeated mud to rock transitions.

State of the art - These boots are awesome. The craftsmanship is exceptional. The comfort and support is great. The rubber toe guard is key for protecting the leather. The lacing system is superb it allows the boot to snug up perfectly. The lace hook in the middle of the tongue allows you to get your heel all the way back, as well as create great ankle support. They are pricey but worth every penny. The Power Matic system and the structure of the shoe feel like it propels you forward. I've never experienced any boot like it before. I had a pair of Vasques for 8 years and these boots are built way better so I expect to get a lot of miles out of them. Asolo has mastered the art of boot making.

Great

First, Moosejaw handled the order quickly and efficiently--good people to deal with. I read about these boots in Backpacker magazine and bought them because I like a boot with a very firm sole. The usual trail I hike is very rocky & climbs 4158' in 5 miles. Backpacker was right in saying the boot needed some break-in time--I got my first blisters 2 in 20 years--but I really liked the boot none the less. Great ankle support, an extremely firm sole. My all time favorite boot was Merrell's Grand Traverse, and these seem their equal. I only hike about 500 miles a year now since a broken leg, broken arm, and triple by-pass in 2004, but I'll give them a run for the money.

Great Boot - My previous pair of boots was a Garmont, which I liked a lot; however I had difficulty finding a similar model lately and went for the Asolo. This is a very sturdy and comfortable boot and I highly recommend it. I am still breaking it but so far after several hours of hiking in different terrains, no blisters, or discomfort. Once again it is a great pair of boots. The only bad things I can say are that the laces seem a little weak and that there was some glue spots from the manufacturing process on several locations on the boots... in both cases this obviously is not a big deal.

Large, heavy, very stiff boot. I loved the boot but it is substantial. I had to send it back because the right ankle cuff hurt my ankle badly. It\\\'s from the difference in my ankles than a defect in the boot because I tried two pair and had the same problem. I loved the style too. I wish they would make this style in a lighter model like the fugitive model. Zappos is a little pricier than every other website. That\\\'s how they make up all that \\\'free\\\' shipping. But very good service as usual. I emailed Asolo and they didn\'t even know what Zappos was.

These boots are great. Lacing system is innovative, allowing the boot to snug up in the right spots. Tongue hook helps you strap in. The craftsmanship is exceptional, except for a toe guard. Broken these boots around the house for two weeks. Ventured outside for four days. Rubber began to separate from boot. No problem! Zappos is exchanging. Other than that, the comfort and support is great. The Power Matic system is noticeable and floats over the terrain. I had a two pair of Fugitives for 4 years, much lighter and don't appear to be as durable, benefit of leather.

Wonderful Boot, Typical Asolo width... The second Asolo releases this boot in a wide size I will purchase a pair. No sooner, No later. If Salomon's or Timberlands typically fit you, I would bet this boot would fit fine. For those of us who need a bit more room (Thank you Keen) these just fall short. They're also quite a bit taller than other runs of Asolo hikers. Definitely a large but very sturdy boot.

These boots have been very durable. They are very well made and comfortable. My feet definitely stay warm and dry. The only problem I had was the first time I wore them my feet got very sore. The next few times I wore them I loosened the laces just a little bit. It seemed to do the trick and I've never had a problem since.

Finally found a comfortable, well supported hiking boot. Went for a long hike in the snow the first time I put them on and was totally comfortable and my feet didn't get fatigued. Liked them so well, I am buying a pair for my son so he can keep up with me.

Look great, but complete nightmare to walk in - Broke these in over two months to prep for hike on the Inca trail and Apu Ausangate in Peru. During the break in, they weren’t horribly comfortable, but I expected that - at least no blisters, etc... First day of my hike I ended up with a bruised hot spot on my right shin and a full thickness 6" blister on my left heel. Tried replacing in a number of patterns, shin pads, blister pad, nothing worked. Ended up wearing my Vibram FiveFingers for the rest of the hike without any trouble. What a waste of money. It drives me nuts to buy hiking boots like these without having any inkling as to whether this kind of thing is going to be a problem until you’re actually on the hike.
