Located in the fir and aspen of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Logan Canyon, at 4500-plus feet elevation, offers climbers a variety of over 275 bolted face climbs and naturally protected crack climbs. The canyon's west to east orientation allows climbers to climb on the sunny or shady side of the road. Mild weather, low humidity and little rain offers the visiting climber the opportunity to climb during most of the year. The majority of the climbing takes place in the first 15 miles of the canyon along the Logan River on U.S. 89, a National Forest Scenic Byway. The abundant vertical and/or overhanging limestone and quartzite faces are the main reason for climbers coming to Logan. The steepness and the quality of the rock is allowing sport climbs in the 5.7 to 5.14 range to be established. It is in this arena that Logan Canyon excels. Hard but safe bolted sported climbs can be found in abundance. They range in difficulty from the 5.7 Drilling In The Dark at Fucoidal Quartzite to the 5.14's Super Tweek and Super Blackout on the China Wall roof. Visitors traveling from SLC (90 miles south) take I-15 north to the Brigham City exit unto U.S. 89 and into Logan. Continue on 89 (Main Street) before turning east on 400 North. Drive past Utah State University on your left, down the hill and into Logan Canyon. The canyon is a short five- minute drive from downtown Logan.
