Old friends revived - Back in the 70's I lived in the SL-72 and later SL-76 until they were discontinued. My feet are very narrow, especially in the heel. It's nearly impossible to find shoes that don't need some kind of gap fill or heel gripper to keep my feet centered. I've found if my heel is loose I burn through the shoe's lining or my socks (whichever material is weaker). These re-issue SL-72s feel as I remembered them. I don't have to mess around with adding pads to keep them snug. It's a relief to find an affordable shoe that fits and looks great. These shoes say medium width. But I can tell you they are narrower. But don't let that put you off, the nylon and suede will stretch and mold to your foot. The lacing system allows them to open quite wide. And, if you have narrow feet like mine, meaning A, B, or C width, these shoes will fit without having to lace them super tight to feel secure. The arch support is small but the shoe is cut with a high arch design. So even though the actual arch insert is small the shoe itself adds to the support due to its contours. When you lace it up, you will see the shoe hugs your arch.

I received a pair of these as a gift and I was thrilled, always wanted a pair of these when I was younger and they are super. They are much lighter than modern adidas shoes and have a thinner top, due to the fact that this is what athletic shoes were like back in the 70s. The only part I didn’t like were the laces (I got the Air Force Blue and Royal blue shoes that came with "white" laces) which have been "aged" to make them look older, look dingy, and take away from the shoe. I replaced these with brand new laces straight away and they look exactly like the ones I wanted way back when. They are true to size and width, and they look good in any casual sense. They will look a little longer than modern athletic shoes if you have large feet (like me) since most shoes at that time were designed around a smaller size as a basis, but if you compare them with your more modern shoes, you’ll see they are the same length... an optical illusion, but this does not detract in the least and I am looking at picking up a few other pairs here in other colors since I have received so many compliments about them. Great shoe!

Super light super good - This is a reissue of a classic Adidas shoe from the 1970s. While purists may claim it's not 100% accurate to the 1972 model - these are extremely faithful and stylish to the originals (72, 76). The first thing you notice is the light weight - very comfortable for a summer shoe and casual wear. The next thing you notice is the surprising comfort of the sole and footbed. There isn't much cushioning, but the midsole provide enough to keep your foot supported. You can't go wrong with any of these colorways except for maybe the red-green-white, which would only make sense if you were a fan of team Italia. The logo on the tongue is only a few versions (True Blue/Macaw lemon like mine being one). It is the Olympic torch logo from the Munich 1972 Olympics (not the Berlin which a reviewer posted below). Overall a great shoe, very clean design and cool reissue. Zappos free next day service is awesome - but you already know this.

Retro classic - I had a pair of these as a kid back in the day, kudos to adidas for bringing them back! The green/yellow is more popular but I bought the blue/yellow out of nostalgia. These are narrow toward the top, so ordering a half size larger should suffice. The fit inside the heel counter is snug and just right. Ditto what the reviewer below noted about width, adjust laces as necessary. These are great for summer kicks, very light and cozy. They simply look awesome – the Berlin '72 Olympic torch logo on the tongue is a nice touch. Zappos gave me free shipping and it arrived next day, so needless to say their service is excellent as many already know.

Zappos, you came thru! I ordered the shoes on a Thursday night, and they were on my porch on Friday morning. And I live where the closest grocery store is 30 miles away. Zappos went ahead and gave me the overnight thing and I didn't even order them that way. Plus it was free. Now to the shoes. These are my shot. Baby blue is my favorite color, and there hasn't been a day that has gone by that I haven't gotten a compliment on them. The retro shoes are the way to go these days and Zappos has all the right color combos.

Very cool old-school look. I got the brown (espresso) color that looks stylish without trying too hard. Goes with pretty much anything. The shoe looks a bit narrow, which I actually like, and fits my medium width feet very well. My only complaint is that the sole is pretty rigid so there's less cushioning while walking or running than I would like. Maybe it will soften a bit over time. Also doesn't breathe very well in warm weather. Still, for a cool everyday shoe at a decent price you can't do much better than these.

I love these classic adidas. They are very stylish and comfortable. I am "into" various styles of dancing, including ballroom, country and western, salsa and other latin dances, and international folk dancing. I had chrome suede added to the soles of these shoes, both the blue and the red, and they are great for dancing. So many of the men\'s dance shoes are very boring and limited in their styles. So I thought I\'d write my review from the point of view of a dancer.

I am extremely happy with my purchase of these stylish and surprisingly comfortable Adidas. They look great and provide more comfort and stability than you might expect. After walking around Atlanta for about four hours I figured I would be in serious pain but these shoes provided better cushion and support than several pairs of Pumas I have purchased in the past. Zappos upgraded the shipping for free and for no reason! I love Zappos and encourage everyone I know to shop here. Cheers!

Great shoe! Fits pretty true to size. Can be a little narrow for a wider foot so you may want to consider getting a half size bigger. Was extremely impressed with the condition of the product and the speediness of its arrival. You can consider me a satisfied and permanent customer! THANKS ZAPPOS! Side note: The second pair of shoes I ordered arrived even sooner with the same impressive mint quality of the first! Very impressed!

Solid so far - I got these shoes so I could have a pair that would fit the pedals in my bike, and they do just that. I got them in green/yellow and though they aren't usually my style, I got a few compliments on them (wish they came in a black with more neutral colors). Pretty comfortable and an overall solid shoe.

Extremely Uncomfortable! These are very heavy retro kicks that don't breathe at all and have a very cramped toebox. Get ready for sweaty blisters on the top of your outer toes if you wear these for any length of time. I kept thinking they would break in eventually, but they simply refuse to. I hate these sneakers SO much and my feet do, too.

SL 72 - Not very comfortable. Classic looks are great!! But can only wear for short periods of time before my feet started to hurt!
