The drive pulley is the device that mates the motor shaft to the bottom assembly.

This copper contact is soldered to the motor. This is the true "on/off" switch. The plastic trigger pushes on to this part. The copper contact can become de-soldered if the LVM overheats; effectively shutting the unit down. This is a type of overload device for the LVM.
